    ADVISORY and STUDENT LED CONFERENCES
    All FHS Scholars meet each Wednesday for Advisory with their Advisory Mentor (FHS staff).  The purpose of Advisory is for students to build positive relationships, learn study skills, develop social-emotional skills, and plan for career, college, tech school and life!

    TUTORING SUPPORT
    FHS is proud to partner with Urban Impact for tutoring services.  Services are available in the library for most subjects on the following days and times:
              Monday-Friday mornings, 7:45 am - 8:45 am
              Monday-Thursday afternoons, 3:45 pm -5:00 pm

    Math Tutoring is also available by our Math Department before school, during lunch, and after school throughout the week.  Scholars can check in with their math teacher for the schedule.

    Saturday Study Jam
    These are held once a month starting in October on Saturdays from 9 am - 12 pm.  Schedule will be sent out.


    SHIELD

    SHIELD is a team of education professionals who collaborate regularly to support students who struggle academically, socially/emotionally and/or behaviorally. SHIELD staff manage a caseload of students and develop the appropriate, individualized supports for our students. In the effort to promote the academic achievement of students, SHIELD staff meet with caseload students on a daily/weekly basis, communicate with teachers and serve as a liaison between school and families. This work is essential to maintain the appropriate supports for our struggling and often most vulnerable students. In addition, SHIELD staff collaborate regularly to discuss best practices, analyze student data and generate reports as part of our school wide progress monitoring system.

    STUDENT INTERVENTION TEAM (SIT)

    A SIT is a collaboration of school personnel (psychologist, nurse, counselor, administrator, regular education and special education teachers) who come together on a regular basis to help individual students succeed in school and to plan services for particular groups of students in a coordinated fashion. The team focuses on assessing the strengths and needs of a specific student, including his or her support system, and then designing collaborative strategies to build on the strengths in order to address the areas of concern. 

    Some services are "staffed" outside of the Intervention Team, such as counseling or medical services, an informal accommodation plan, a referral to the 504 Accommodation Coordinator (for a formalized plan), or a referral to Special Education.
