Running Start

First, research to find out whether this is a good fit for you and your priorities as a Franklin student. You must set up an appointment with your school counselor to discuss your interest in Running Start.

Take the Compass Test, which is a college placement in Math and English.

The COMPASS test is walk-in only. Testing hours at Seattle Central are Mondays: 8am-7:30pm, Tuesdays: 1pm-7:30pm, Wednesdays-Fridays: 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. (arrive 45 minutes before end time)

  • Bring Student ID and $19. (If qualified for free/reduced lunch, see your school counselor for a fee waiver)

  • After you receive test scores, go to your chosen school's Running Start Office and obtain their enrollment forms. You will then set up an appointment to meet with an academic advisor on campus.

  • Bring your enrollment forms to your school counselor to review and make recommendations for courses that you would be eligible to take while also ensuring that you stay on track with graduation.
