    Known "Domain" Error Message

Please have your scholar log onto their computer before the first day of class to access Schoology. If their new laptop does not log on and says that the domain isn’t available, it is likely that they need to log into your home wi-fi BEFORE logging in. There is an icon in the bottom right-hand corner that allows you to do that.

Other common issues that we have seen are...

    • New users don’t know their username and password. Username is the number 1, first initial, middle initial, and your last name. The initial password is their birth date in this format: mmddyyyy
    • Inability to find SPS e-mail. If you log into Office 365, Outlook is one of the icons and that is your inbox.
    • Inability to find the Teams link. All links should be in your 1st period Schoology page.
    • If you forget your username or password, please e-mail your advisory teacher or Franklin Librarian, Quinn Longhurst at qulonghurst@seattleschools.org they can reset your password remotely.
    • For hardware issues with school issued laptops, please email laptops@seattleschools.org or call 206.252.0100.

    Laptop Care and Maintenance

    • Keep all food and drink away from computer equipment
    • Should damage occur, do not attempt to repair; SPS has trained technicians to perform repairs
    • Remind your scholar to properly save all academic work and any important files
    • Supervise what applications your scholar is using. Discourage random software installs from the internet, including games (unless it is sanctioned by a teacher)
    • Provide assistance as needed when inserting cords, cables, and other removable storage devices to avoid damage to the laptop ports, DO NOT USE EXCESSIVE FORCE. Contact SPS support staff if you are having difficulty using any of the peripherals.
    • Laptops are fragile, devices must be stored in a safe and secure location.
    • Laptops must be cooled, keep the air vents free from obstructions
    • Restart the computer at least once a week
