Boys and Girls Club of King County Youthforce

Youthforce is Boys & Girls Clubs of King County’s unique approach to college and workforce readiness to prepare teens for success in their first jobs and provide a clear pathway to their chosen career goals.

Opportunity: Teen Jobs – YouthForce places teens in paid internships, coupled with college and career readiness training. Paired with the teamwork, leadership, and life skills youth need to realize their full potential; YouthForce participants are prepared to reach their professional goals for a successful future.

Cultivate Learning @ UW

Cultivate Learning is a University of Washington program committed to supporting the early childhood education (ECE) and expanded learning opportunity (ELO) workforce. 

Opportunity: High School Internship Program – This program program is designed for youth attending high school in Seattle who are interested in social justice, have a passion for interacting with children, and desire to connect their classroom knowledge with practical experience in early childhood programs. This five-month internship unites teens from diverse backgrounds across Greater Seattle, providing them with paid guided internships and empowering them to become change agents in early childhood education.

Metro Cruise Services

Metro Cruise Services provide cruise terminal management, terminal security services, shore excursions and ground guest services for the Port of Seattle’s cruise ship operations.

Opportunity: Summer Jobs – Spend the summer supporting Seattle’s very busy and popular summer cruise operations along the Port. If you are passionate about customer service, hospitality, and the cruise industry – and are interested in working with a dedicated team of enthusiastic, motivated, energetic and well aligned professionals – this is a great job for you.

Miller Hull Architects

Miller Hull is an architecture firm based in Seattle and San Diego applying a regionalist design philosophy rooted in sustainability to projects across the country.  The firm partners with clients and consultants to create deeply impactful buildings that are fresh and unexpected—whether a home, school, or civic destination. 

Opportunity: Open Studio Internship – One full-time, paid internship is offered to a high school student who has completed their junior or senior year. For three weeks, this student may have an opportunity to tour construction sites, attend team meetings and work in a professional environment. Over the course of the summer, a portfolio of the intern’s work will be assembled and will culminate in a brief presentation on their last day. Transit expenses to get to our studio are covered.

Mountaineers

The Mountaineers offer outdoor opportunities for all and are committed to building a community where everyone feels belonging. Through their summer camp programs they introduce young people to the benefits of outdoor experience: a healthy lifestyle, outdoor recreation skills, perseverance, self-confidence, self-reliance, an appreciation for the natural world, and a commitment to protecting the outdoor experience.

Opportunity: Seattle Day Camps Counselor and Counselor in Training Positions (paid or volunteer) – join The Mountaineers at our summer day camps and spend your days teaching kids to rock climb, be safe in the outdoors, swim, and have lots of fun! We can offer paid counselor positions for folks over 18 and a volunteer counselor in training program for those under 18. We are located in Magnuson Park in North Seattle. No outdoors or climbing experience is necessary.

Pedalheads

Pedalheads is a leader in bike, swim, and trail riding day camps and lessons for kids 2-12 of all skill levels. From learning to bike safely on roads to mastering strokes in the pool, Pedalheads kids grow their skills and confidence – all while having lots of fun.

Opportunity: Camp Counselors – Pedalheads is seeking camp counselors for Spring Break and Summer to teach bike programs to kids ages 2 – 12 years old. As a bike or trail camp counselor you can expect to spend your days outside while inspiring the next generation of cyclists. From taking off training wheels to taking off on road riding adventures, it’s active, adventurous and incredibly rewarding! Port of Seattle

The Port of Seattle is a leader in moving people and cargo across the country and around the world by air and sea at terminals in and nearby the city. Additionally, the Port manages its own police and fire departments.

Opportunity: High School Internships – designed to provide you with the skills you need to be successful in a corporate environment. Interns will learn the Port’s Code of Conduct and communications technology, as well as business skills such as: diversity and inclusion, process improvement, project management, networking, public speaking, communications, and leadership. This is also a great opportunity to network for those interested in aviation and maritime careers, two of the region’s largest living wage jobs providers.

Powerful Voices

Powerful Voices is all about creating space. They are a fully femme, womxn, non-binary staff of color that aims to build a place where young girls and gender expansive youth of color can feel brave enough to share their truths with us and then the world. Participants in these programs receive a $1600 stipend.

Opportunity 1: PV Radio – A podcast led by girls & gender expansive youth of color where young people create, produce, and edit podcast content relevant to them and their communities

Opportunity 2: Activistas – A program where high school age BIPOC girls & gender expansive engage in activism with adult allies through curating social-justice based projects for a culminating event

Opportunity 3: Healing Justice Fellowship – Our fellows will support peers, help develop curriculum, support with program and event planning, and help engage peers & community members around healing justice

Seattle Parks and Recreation

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) supports healthy people, a thriving environment and vibrant community by providing safe and accessible spaces for residents and visitors to work, recreate, rejuvenate and enhance quality of life. SPR also manages many facilities, including 25 community centers, eight indoor swimming pools, two outdoor (summer) swimming pools, two environmental education centers, two small craft centers, four golf courses, an outdoor stadium, and much more.

Opportunity 1: Summer Jobs – a number of temporary part-time summer job openings available for eligible students (more information to come).

Opportunity 2: Summer Lifeguard Employment – We will have information on requirements for summer and/or year round part-time lifeguard employment for those who are 16+, including training courses and how to apply.

Seattle Public Schools Career Connected Learning

Seattle Public Schools (SPS) Career Connected Learning prepares students for career and college readiness after high school. Through Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes and internship opportunities, students explore a wide array of careers with the opportunity to deep dive into career pathways of particular interest to them.

Opportunity: Career Quest Internships – Career Quest is an SPS-specific Internship program. Students can earn high school credit and get paid while exploring careers for their futures. During the summer, students have the opportunity to work with local companies like Amazon to learn on the job and in the classroom.

Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP)

The Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) supports young people (ages 16 to 24) from qualifying-income households and communities that experience racial, social, and economic disparities. The goal is to increase youth and young adults’ ability to pursue careers that pay well and are meaningful to them.

Opportunity: Summer Internship Program – participants are placed in professional and/or structured paid work settings within City departments, local businesses and non-profit agencies to apply their knowledge, gain hands-on experience, develop professional connections, and build their resume. Students can earn up to $3000 for their summer work.

TeenTix

TeenTix exists to break down the barriers that prevent teens from accessing art in our community. The organization also offers a variety of in-person and virtual Career Connected Learning experiences. Through apprenticeships, mentorships, and internships, TeenTix hopes to prepare and develop employees both in and outside of the Arts Sector.

Opportunity: TeenTix Street Team – get paid to see events! By joining the TeenTix Street Team, teens will use their TeenTix Pass to see events, create digital media content, and be paid once the content is published on social media channels. Perfect for anyone who considers themselves an influencer!

Tilth Alliance

Tilth Alliance manages several community learning gardens in and around Seattle — including the city’s largest urban farm! They use these gardens, fields, farms and kitchens to provide hands-on educational experiences where people can get their hands in the dirt and shift their understanding of how food is grown.

Opportunity: Rainier Beach Youth Stewards – youth ages 14-18 gain job experience through wetland restoration and farm education. The Stewards participate in different aspects of farm operations, learn about wetland restoration at the farm, and build relationships with peers, adult staff, and volunteers.

Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle

The Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle (ULMS) empowers African Americans, as well as other diverse underserved communities, to thrive by securing educational and economic opportunities. The team works relentlessly alongside local partners and community supporters to ensure the needs of the families served are being met and the economic challenges they face overcome.

Opportunity: Youth Maritime Career Launch Program – The Youth Maritime Career Launch Internship Program is a 3-month PAID internship that connects youth and young adults ages 16-24 to permanent employment opportunities with employers in the Maritime Industry. Participants in this program will be trained in job readiness skills, certified in Basic Safety trainings, trained in entry level maritime skills, and etc. before going into their internships. Participants in this program will also be supported in wrap around services including transportation assistance, work related clothing, access to safety gear/equipment, and etc.

UW Botanical Gardens

The University of Washington Botanic Gardens are places for plant research, display, and education. There are two sites: the Washington Park Arboretum and the Center for Urban Horticulture. Both offer excellent opportunities for exercise, exploration, and wildlife viewing.

Opportunity: Youth Summer Internship – for students interested in exploring careers in environmental fields. They are looking for curious, creative, and enthusiastic teens with a commitment to community and equity to join their Summer 2024 intern cohort! No previous experience in environmental issues required. This internship program integrates multiple disciplines and ways of knowing to support a diverse community of interns in finding a career path that is right for them.
