Seattle School Retirees Association offering three $3,000 Scholarships to Future Educators
If you are planning to enter the field of Education and will be attending college in the Fall to begin your educator training, The Seattle School Retirees Association would like to hear from you. They have three $3000 scholarships to offer future educators in two different categories, both applications due May 31.
LYNN FULLER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship provides a great opportunity for all SSRA members to nominate a student who is graduating and/or has graduated from the Seattle School District and is interested in pursuing the field of elementary education.
All that is required is a letter explaining why the nominator thinks the student is worthy of this scholarship as well as a short essay from the student regarding his or her goals in the field of elementary education. Nominations are due May 31st and recipients will be notified by June 15, 2026. The $3000 award is sent to the recipient’s selected post-secondary institution.

THE PHIL KONKEL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is offered to graduating seniors of Seattle Public High Schools. Student must be nominated by a SSRA member, retired or active.
The nominee must pursue a career in the field of education to be considered for this award. The scholarship award is to be used for tuition, books, lab fees, and other education related expenses. The $3000 award can be used for the 2026-2027 school year. The award will be sent to the recipient’s selected postsecondary institution in August with a copy to the scholarship recipient. Any unused funds at the end of the school year must be returned to the Seattle School Retirees Association. Scholarship recipient will be notified of award by May 31st, 2026.
Seattle Rainier Lions Club offering 2 university and 1 technical school scholarship
Each year the Seattle Rainier Lions Club awards scholarships to graduating seniors from Cleveland, Franklin, Beach, and Sugiyama High Schools. Two (2) scholarships of $2000 to students entering an accredited college or university and one (1) $1000 to a student entering an accredited technical or vocational school, will be awarded to students from EACH high school.
Applications must also include the following to be considered for the awards:
- A personal statement addressing your financial need, academic achievement, and participation in service projects
- One (1) Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor, or school administrator
- One (1) Letter of Recommendation from any person not related to the applicant – like a work colleague or supervisor, a community organization staff member, or a service learning supervisor.
Paper applications can be picked up in the Counseling Office or the College and Career Center (205a). Completed applications with all required documents are due on or before May 31.
The Port of Seattle Blacks In Government Scholarship applications now open until June 6.
The Port of Seattle Chapter of Blacks In Government is now accepting 2026 Scholarship Applications.
To Apply: Complete the Port of Seattle Blacks in Government Scholarship Application and include all the information outlined in the application. All applications must be received by 11:59 p.m. on June 08, 2026 .
Four scholarships (two high school & two college students) of $1,000 each will be awarded during a scholarship celebration ceremony which is TBD on the week of June 15–19.
- Academic Achievements (Evelyn Findley Outstanding Academic Achievement Award)
- Community Service (Lilyian Casswell-Isley Outstanding Community Service Award)
Applicants for the Scholarship must:
- Have demonstrated outstanding leadership skills and superb academic achievement
- Reside in one of the following counties: King, Snohomish, Kitsap, Pierce, Whatcom, or Skagit
- Be a graduating high school student in 2026 or an enrolled college student in 2026
- Have demonstrated involvement in community service
- Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale
Horatio Alger CTE Scholarship
300 students will be awarded with Horatio Alger CTE scholarships up to $2,500 to help fund their education. Funds may be used for tuition, childcare, transportation, equipment, supplies, or other related costs.
To apply for a scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Have completed high school (or equivalency) by July 1
- Plan to attend a community college or trade/vocational school
- Enroll in an associate’s degree, certificate, or diploma program by September that will lead to employment
- Demonstrate financial need (applicants must show household income of $100,000 or less)
- Be a United States citizen
Priority Deadline: June 5, 2026

Scholarships for SPS Students
Scholarships are a type of grant (monetary gift you do not have to pay back) for students to use in paying for after high school training and college programs. Scholarships are available for students as early as elementary school and continue through graduate school.
Federal and State programs provide over 46 billion dollars in student aid. Private companies, community organizations, civic groups, foundations, and religious organizations provide an additional 3 billion dollars in scholarships.
