Rare PAID Summer work opportunity available for students under 16!
The 2024 Student Conservation Association Seattle Summer Urban Green Crew will work with local partners to do invasive species maintenance, erosion control, trail maintenance, and mulching.
The majority of the crew’s work will be in parks and green spaces in the Seattle area. The crew will also spend three days and two nights working with the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest, camping at Denny Creek Campground. SCA will provide all food, transportation, and gear for this trip.
The crew will take part in environmental education and green job readiness activities throughout the week. This includes field trips to a number of sites in the region every Friday. Students are paid $20/hour, 33-35 hours per week for 7 weeks
Who: The crew will be comprised of 12 students, ages 14-19, and 2 adult crew leaders. Housing is not provided, except during the camping trip.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must be 14-19 years of age during the program dates
- Must be currently in high school or a recent high school graduate
- Must be located in the greater Seattle area (housing not provided)
- Must be available for camping trip (August 7-9)
- Must be available for the ENTIRE program to be considered!! (7/8/24-8/23/24)

You Grow Girl offering 10-week PAID internships for female-identifying students interested in the mental health profession
You Grow Girl! is accepting You Grow Girl applications for their upcoming summer career exploration and readiness training cohort. This 10-week paid program will prepare female-identifying youth, ages 16-25 with the essential skills they need to find, acquire, maintain, and grow as sustainable professionals. This program focuses on exploring careers in the behavioral health field.
Aspiring youth mentors, therapists, social workers, case managers, public health educators, substance use disorder counselors, and other behavioral health professionals will be paid $20.00 per hour and will be eligible for employment opportunities either at You Grow Girl! or other community partners upon successful completion of the 10-week program. Space is limited, with only 12 spots available.

UW Botanical Gardens still seeking outdoor summer interns
Are you interested in exploring careers in environmental fields? We are looking for curious, creative, and enthusiastic teens with a commitment to community and equity to join our Summer 2024 intern cohort! No previous experience in environmental issues required.
This internship program integrates multiple disciplines and ways of knowing to support a diverse community of interns in finding a career path that is right for them.
- Who: Teens aged 16-18
- When: July 8 – August 2, 2024, Monday through Friday, 9AM-3PM (with slight variation)
- Where: Washington Park Arboretum and locations around the greater Seattle area
- Compensation: $1750 stipend for completion of the four week program

Team Read is hiring again for NEXT school year. Apply now to guarantee your placement!
Team Read provides teens with a PAID opportunity to gain valuable work skills and the satisfaction of changing the lives of children in their community. The program supports second and third grade students who are not yet reading at grade level. Students are referred into the program by their classroom teacher, or other staff at their school, early in the academic year. They meet with their teen coaches after school two times per week, beginning in November through mid-May.

The Swedish Club Cultural Center is currently hiring for seasonal staff. The Swedish Club is a meeting spot for Scandinavians in Seattle, Washington. It hosts a number of events for members and non-members at their Queen Anne location.
The primary responsibility of the Events & Facilities Staff is to prepare and maintain the Swedish Club building & grounds, to ensure events run smoothly and comply with established guidelines, rules, and regulations. Staff will communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth delivery of services. They will coordinate with the kitchen, facilities staff, and Executive Director on things requiring attention.

The programs currently seeking students – and have open applications – are listed at the top. Programs that may not be accepting students now – but will in the future – are listed by CTE pathway below.
This is always the best place to start when looking for opportunities, but if you do not find something you like there, make an appointment with Mr. Ruiz to explore additional opportunities.
Training and Mentorship Programs
The deadline for Seattle U’s Summer Business Institute is fast approaching
Are you interested in entrepreneurship (owning your own business) or experiencing college-level business, marketing, and economics classes? If so, the Albers Summer Business Institute (SBI) is a great way to sample the instruction, interactions, and opportunities that their business school offers.
SBI at Seattle University is a credit-bearing, project-based summer business camp for high school students focused on social entrepreneurship.
The program provides youth from African-American, Latino/Hispanic, Native American Indigenous, Pacific Islander, Hmong American, and Nepalese American heritages the opportunity to explore entrepreneurship, data visualization, economics, and more.
Who: 9th, 10th, & 11th-grade students of color
When: Self-paced – July 15 – July 19, 2024; residential program at Seattle University from July 20-26

UW Business School providing programs for young women and youth of color to prepare for business careers (deadline also fast approaching)
UW Foster Business School invites student to engage in transformative learning through their Young Executives of Color Program (YEOC) and Young Women’s Leadership Summit (YWLS).
Offering workshops, seminars, and hands-on activities led by experienced undergraduate mentors, these programs are designed for sophomores, juniors, and seniors to learn the necessary tools to understand and navigate the complexities of diversity, equity, and inclusion in both educational and professional settings. Participants will gain critical skills in leadership, empathy, and social responsibility in the business world as they prepare for their future careers.

Teen Tix offers opportunities for teens interested in writing, podcasting, advocacy, and a summer program specifically for teen artists of color to receive mentorship on their craft. All programs are paid positions and we offer a wellness/transportation stipend for participants.
- M-TAC Program – allows teen artists of color to hone their artwork under the guidance of professional mentors.
- New Guard Program – a board of young arts leaders and advocates serving TeenTix’s mission
- Teen Tix Arts Podcast – a group of teens who produce a monthly podcast focused on arts and culture
- Teen Tix Newsroom – a place for teens to process, interpret, reflect, and think critically about the art and media they engage with

Attend the Cornish College Summer Art Programs
Summer at Cornish is an intensive 4-week summer program offering high school students a mini-college experience. No auditions or submissions are necessary to register – classes are rigorous, taught by Cornish faculty, but inclusive so that students still exploring their journey in the arts can participate alongside students with more experience.
More than a summer camp, students choose their electives and can mix-and-match classes in dance, music, theater, film, art & design.

Participate in Lincoln High School’s All-District Science Fair for Prizes and Networking
Lincoln High School’s Science Club is producing the first ever Seattle Science Fair! This event is a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their scientific innovation and creativity to a large audience.
The Seattle Science Fair will take place on Saturday, June 15th at Matthews Beach Park in North Seattle (5100 NE 93rd St., Seattle, WA 98115). The fair is open to high school students and is an incredible opportunity to showcase and gain recognition for scientific innovation.
The fair is centered around climate change and creative initiatives to approach it. The purpose of our fair is to get Seattle youth excited about solving real world issues in our world and getting them recognition for their innovative prowess. This is also an opportunity to win prizes and network with other like minded scientists.

Sign up to Participate in Seattle Children’s Hospital Summer Nurse Camp
Who: junior or senior year of high school in the fall of 2024 and be at least 16 years old by the start of camp (July 15, 2024)
What: FREE five-day camp, where students will gain insight into the world of pediatric nursing by participating in clinical observation sessions. In these sessions, students will shadow nurses in a clinical environment and observe as they provide patient care and interact with patients and families. (Students will not provide patient care).

Aeronautical Pathways Program Seeking Applicants for Fall 2024
The Aeronautical Science Pathways program, hosted at The Museum of Flight is a free, skills center program for high school juniors and seniors. The program introduces students to the following career pathways: professional pilot, unmanned aerial systems (drones), air traffic control, airline dispatch, and airline and airport management.
- Juniors receive 3.0 CTE credits with equivalencies (1.0 lab science and .5 English Language Arts); Seniors receive 3.0 CTE credits
- Both Juniors and Seniors are eligible for 30 college credits (each year); dual credits awarded by Green River College
- Both Juniors and Seniors are eligible for The Museum of Flight flight-training and post-secondary scholarships (annual awards upwards of $250,000)
The Museum of Flight hosts Museum of Flight monthly information sessions. Students can register online via this Museum of Flight monthly information sessions student Inquiry Form.
Service Learning and Community Programs
Last Minute Service Hours for Seniors! Help with the Quaker Basketball Slam
Seniors who still need service hours to graduate have a great option. Boys Basketball is looking for 10-15 students to volunteer May 31, June 1, and June 2 for the Quaker Summer Slam Tournament. To participate, you must be able to attend at least two of the days.
To be eligible to attend and earn your hours, you will need to attend a meeting in Room 212 with Coach Tavar May 23rd at 12:30pm. This opportunity is open to all students but is a great opportunity for those about to graduate and still missing some of their 60 service hours.
Earn ALL of your Service Hours this summer working for the Museum of Pop Culture
MoPOP’s Youth Volunteer Program (Summer Session) is an opportunity for high schoolers to complete 40-60 service learning hours while learning about museum and nonprofit career options from MoPOP professionals.
Youth Volunteers will perform various volunteer roles, interact with the diverse visiting population of the museum visitors and staff, and get to know other youth interested in the museum field. We’re seeking applicants who are excited about pop culture and who are interested in building their customer service and public speaking skills. Applications close on June 3, 2024.

Still Need Service Hours for Graduation this year? Volunteer as a Tutor
Catholic Community Services of Western Washington’s Youth Tutoring Program is seeking volunteers to work with students at their tutoring centers. At the centers, scholars build skills in reading and math, get help with homework, and grow their confidence. There are five YTP tutoring centers located throughout Seattle that open in the late afternoon and early evening hours.

Workshop Hosts: City of Seattle, in partnership with the King County Regional Office of Gun Violence Prevention and Seattle Neighborhood Group
This two-day summit will allow students to dive into the Alive & Free prescription, equipping them with the knowledge and tools necessary to address gun violence proactively and effectively. Through engaging presentations delivered by Alive & Free Co-Founder and Executive Director Dr. Marshall, small group discussions, and activities, students will understand the root causes of violence and explore strategies for promoting peace and safety in their communities.

Kiwanis Camp Casey Seeking Summer Camp Counselors
Want to make a difference this summer while earning Service Learning credit? Kiwanis Camp Casey is a free, week long summer camp for children ages 6-17 who have physical disabilities. It is provided by the North Central of Seattle Kiwanis, and they are currently seeking volunteer counselors to help create “the best week of the year” for their campers.
This year, Kiwanis Camp Casey will be held at Lions Camp Horizon in Blaine, WA. Transportation will be provided to and from camp starting from the Seattle area.

UW Botanical Gardens also still seeking Summer Junior Naturalist Volunteers
The University of Washington Botanic Gardens are places for plant research, display, and education. There are two sites: the Washington Park Arboretum and the Center for Urban Horticulture. Both offer excellent opportunities for exercise, exploration, and wildlife viewing.
Junior Naturalists are teens volunteering with UW Botanic Gardens Summer Camp who are enthusiastic about working with kids, playing outside, and gaining leadership skills. \
- WHO: Teens ages 15 – 18
- WHEN: Junior Naturalists serve for at least one, 2-week session. See the schedule below for session dates.
- WHERE: Washington Park Arboretum
- COST: Free. This is a volunteer opportunity. Junior Naturalists may use this experience to meet service hour requirements. A reference letter is available at the successful completion of the two weeks.

Northwest Folklife Seeks Volunteers for 4-day festival event, several service hours available.
Northwest Folklife Festival is currently seeking students to volunteer at the upcoming Northwest Folklife Festival from May 24th-May 27th, 2024. The Northwest Folklife Festival is an iconic celebration of cultural diversity and artistic expression, bringing together individuals from all walks of life to share their traditions, music, dance, and stories.
They seek enthusiastic and committed students who are passionate about celebrating diversity and promoting cultural understanding to join us as volunteers for this year’s festival.
As a volunteer with the Northwest Folklife Festival, students may have the opportunity to assist with a variety of tasks, including:
- Greeting and assisting festival attendees
- Providing information about festival activities, performances, and cultural exhibits
- Assisting with stage management and performance coordination
- Supporting vendors and exhibitors
- Helping with setup, cleanup, and logistics
