Franklin School Leadership Announcement
Dear Franklin families and staff,
I am pleased to announce Erik Weiss has been selected as principal of Franklin High School. His role at Franklin changes from interim principal on July 1.
He was selected through a formal interview process that included staff, parents, and community participation.
Principal Weiss has 20 years of experience in education, starting as an English and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) teacher at Highline High School.
He earned his principal certification at the University of Washington, Danforth Program. Then he served as an assistant principal at Juanita High School in the Lake Washington School District. In 2018, Principal Weiss came to SPS serving as an assistant principal at Chief Sealth International High School for several years.
Principal Weiss is dedicated to ensuring every SPS student receives a high-quality education and is prepared for college, career, and community.
I also want to thank him for accepting the interim principal position and for his leadership at Franklin this last school year.
