Special Event: Computer Science Week!

December 4-8 is National Computer Science Education and Careers Week

We are celebrating in a few ways here at Franklin and beyond:

Apple and Microsoft logos combined

1.) Apple and Microsoft – On Wednesday, December 6th, Engineers from Apple and Microsoft will be here at 5th and 6th period in Room 205 to talk about their Map Systems and Artificial Intelligence run by the power of computer science and how to obtain careers at these two tech giants here in the Seattle area. If you are interested in attending, or teachers if you are interested in bringing your entire class, please contact Mr. Ruiz at dpruiz@seattleschools.org or stop by Room 309 to talk with him. You can also sign up to participate in Apple and Microsoft class by filling out the Request Form. A pass will be sent to your 5th or 6th teacher so that you can attend.

2.) Google – On Thursday, December 7th, a representative from Google will be here in the Library during both advisory periods, to talk about the many ways to land a career in the tech industry that does not just include going immediately to a 4-year university. There are so many options now for students, so if you are interested in careers in computer science, but not sure how to do it in the best way for you, you should attend this Google session by filling out the Request Form. A pass will be sent to your Advisory teacher so that you can attend.

3. UW Allen School of Computer Science – The Allen School invites high schools to celebrate with them by attending their Open House on Saturday, December 9th, 1- 4:30pm. Learn about computing, meet current Allen School students, and engage in computing activities. Interested high school students who want to participate in the UW Allen School of Computer Science can complete the Registration Form
