Arts Corps*

Arts Corps revolutionizes arts education by igniting the creative power of young people through culturally engaging learning experiences.  Youth experience the transformative power of creativity and gain a deepened belief in their own capacity to learn, take risks, persist and achieve.

Opportunity 1: Art 4 Life – paid summer art internship for high school students. Students engage in projects that integrate elements of design through technology for storytelling in order to gain 21st Century skills of creative problem solving, collaboration, communication and critical thinking. The Art 4 Life curriculum offers arts, social justice, community and technological learning through teaching artist-led workshops in analog and/or digital art, entrepreneurship and digital storytelling, as well as professional experiences and performance opportunities to support students’ career exploration in creative and technology spaces.

Boys and Girls Club of King County Youthforce*

Youthforce is Boys & Girls Clubs of King County’s unique approach to college and workforce readiness to prepare teens for success in their first jobs and provide a clear pathway to their chosen career goals.

Opportunity: Teen Jobs – YouthForce places teens in paid internships, coupled with college and career readiness training. Equipped with the teamwork, leadership, and life skills youth need to realize their full potential; YouthForce participants are prepared to reach their professional goals for a successful future.

Evergreen Goodwill Youth Programs*

Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington

Through it’s Job Training and Education department, Evergreen Goodwill offers programs to ensure youth in our community have the skills and training they need to successfully make the transition to adulthood and careers.

Opportunity: Youth Maritime Program – a paid internship program that provides free job training and education for high school juniors and seniors. The program offers a summer-long intensive followed by school year workshops, hands-on learning, service projects, and resources to help participants with college preparation, job training, career exploration and life skill building.

Juma Ventures*

Opportunity: YouthConnect – offering employment opportunities with social enterprise partners in Seattle. Participants also have the chance to build workplace skills, get training on how to manage and save money, and free counseling to develop a plan for building a career along with connections to jobs and education opportunities to help get there.

Metro Cruise Services*

Metro Cruise Services provide cruise terminal management, terminal security services, shore excursions and ground guest services for the Port of Seattle’s cruise ship operations.

Miller Hull Architects*

MIller Hull

Miller Hull is an architecture firm based in Seattle and San Diego applying a regionalist design philosophy rooted in sustainability to projects across the country.  The firm partners with clients and consultants to create deeply impactful buildings that are fresh and unexpected—whether a home, school, or civic destination. 

Opportunity: Open Studio Internship – One full-time, paid internship is offered to a high school student who has completed their junior or senior year. For three weeks, this student may have an opportunity to tour construction sites, attend team meetings and work in a professional environment. Over the course of the summer, a portfolio of the intern’s work will be assembled and will culminate in a brief presentation on their last day. Transit expenses to get to our studio are covered.

Pacific Science Center*

Pacific Science Center has ignited curiosity for more than 60 years. Since its founding as the nation’s first science and technology center, PacSci has worked to expand access to science, serve as a vital resource for educators, and fuel discovery and experimentation as a vibrant community laboratory. They host a Camp for Young Minds each summer.

Opportunity: Camp Aide – a part time role at 5 different locations across Seattle. The Camp Aide will ensure smooth camp programing by providing support to classroom educators and camp location site leads as directed. This position upholds the mission to provide safe, interactive, week-long STEM camps for school age children to spark lifelong curiosity, significantly enhance the participant’s experience and expand Pacific Science Center’s role as a driving force for informal science education. The Camp Aide position will focus on two areas of operations: classroom management and supply inventory.

Pedalheads*

Pedalheads is a leader in bike, swim, and trail riding day camps and lessons for kids 2-12 of all skill levels. From learning to bike safely on roads to mastering strokes in the pool, Pedalheads kids grow their skills and confidence – all while having lots of fun.

Opportunity: Camp Counselors – Pedalheads is seeking camp counselors for Spring Break and Summer to teach bike programs to kids ages 2 – 12 years old. As a bike or trail camp counselor you can expect to spend your days outside while inspiring the next generation of cyclists. From taking off training wheels to taking off on road riding adventures, it’s active, adventurous and incredibly rewarding! Port of Seattle*

The Port of Seattle is a leader in moving people and cargo across the country and around the world by air and sea at terminals in and nearby the city. Additionally, the Port manages its own police and fire departments.

Opportunity: High School Internships – designed to provide you with the skills you need to be successful in a corporate environment. Interns will learn the Port’s Code of Conduct and communications technology, as well as business skills such as: diversity and inclusion, process improvement, project management, networking, public speaking, communications, and leadership. This is also a great opportunity to network for those interested in aviation and maritime careers, two of the region’s largest living wage jobs providers.

Powerful Voices*

Powerful Voices is all about creating space. They are a fully femme, womxn, non-binary staff of color that aims to build a place where young girls and gender expansive youth of color can feel brave enough to share their truths with us and then the world. Participants in these programs receive a $1600 stipend.

Opportunity 1: Artivism – Artivism is our teen arts internships where BIPOC girls & gender expansive youth explore the intersection of arts and activism. You will explore three art disciplines in two-week increments, and create unique pieces to display at a youth expo at the end of November.

Opportunity 2: PV Radio – A podcast led by girls & gender expansive youth of color where young people create, produce, and edit podcast content relevant to them and their communities

Opportunity 3: Activistas – A program where high school age BIPOC girls & gender expansive engage in activism with adult allies through curating social-justice based projects for a culminating event.

Seattle Parks and Recreation*

Seattle Parks and Recreation

Seattle Parks and Recreation (SPR) supports healthy people, a thriving environment and vibrant community by providing safe and accessible spaces for residents and visitors to work, recreate, rejuvenate and enhance quality of life. SPR also manages many facilities, including 25 community centers, eight indoor swimming pools, two outdoor (summer) swimming pools, two environmental education centers, two small craft centers, four golf courses, an outdoor stadium, and much more.

Opportunity 1: Summer Jobs – a number of temporary part-time summer job openings available for eligible students (more information to come).

Opportunity 2: Summer Lifeguard Employment – We will have information on requirements for summer and/or year round part-time lifeguard employment for those who are 16+, including training courses and how to apply.

Seattle Public Schools Career Connected Learning*

Seattle Public Schools Career Connected Learning

Seattle Public Schools (SPS) Career Connected Learning prepares students for career and college readiness after high school. Through Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes and internship opportunities, students explore a wide array of careers with the opportunity to deep dive into career pathways of particular interest to them.

Opportunity: Career Quest Internships – Career Quest is an SPS-specific Internship program. Students can earn high school credit and get paid while exploring careers for their futures. During the summer, students have the opportunity to work with local companies like Amazon to learn on the job and in the classroom.

Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP)*

Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP)

The Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) supports young people (ages 16 to 24) from qualifying-income households and communities that experience racial, social, and economic disparities. The goal is to increase youth and young adults’ ability to pursue careers that pay well and are meaningful to them.

Opportunity: Summer Internship Program – participants are placed in professional and/or structured paid work settings within City departments, local businesses and non-profit agencies to apply their knowledge, gain hands-on experience, develop professional connections, and build their resume. Students can earn up to $3000 for their summer work.

Tilth Alliance*

Tilth Alliance manages several community learning gardens in and around Seattle — including the city’s largest urban farm! They use these gardens, fields, farms and kitchens to provide hands-on educational experiences where people can get their hands in the dirt and shift their understanding of how food is grown.

Opportunity: Rainier Beach Youth Stewards – youth ages 14-18 gain job experience through wetland restoration and farm education. The Stewards participate in different aspects of farm operations, learn about wetland restoration at the farm, and build relationships with peers, adult staff, and volunteers.

Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle*

The team works relentlessly alongside local partners and community supporters to ensure the needs of the families served are being met and the economic challenges they face overcome.

Opportunity: Youth Maritime Career Launch Program – The Youth Maritime Career Launch Internship Program is a 3-month PAID internship that connects youth and young adults ages 16-24 to permanent employment opportunities with employers in the Maritime Industry. Participants in this program will be trained in job readiness skills, certified in Basic Safety trainings, trained in entry level maritime skills, and etc. before going into their internships. Participants in this program will also be supported in wrap around services including transportation assistance, work related clothing, access to safety gear/equipment, and etc.
