YouthForce Offering a Summer Job and Internship Fair April 16
Boys and Girls Club YouthForce is putting together a Teen Summit on Wednesday, April 16th from 12-3pm at their Rainier Vista Boys and Girl Club. The Teen Summit will have workforce readiness workshops, industry panels, and job exploration through VR (metaverse). This is also great opportunity for students looking for a summer job or internship to come speak with employers and community resources as they will be tabling throughout the event. They will have food and raffle giveaways.
Team Read will start accepting applications for Fall tutoring positions April 28
Are you are interested in earning some extra money during the school year taking a few hours out of your week to help elementary school students learn to read? Team Read is an afterschool program that offers families free 1:1 reading tutoring for their student 2 days a week from November to May. The teens hired are paired with these 2nd – 4th grade students, earn $20.76/hr for their time, and are supervised by an adult site coordinator – normally a staff member of the elementary school.

Port of Seattle High School Internship Applications Opening Soon
Interested in public service? Are you currently a high school student looking for professional experience? The Port of Seattle offers a diverse field of opportunities for students to pursue career advancement. Applications open in May, so throughout the month of April the Port is hosting a series of outreach sessions for students and parents to learn about the opportunity. FEEST seeking student leaders passionate about mental health and social justice
Do you want to tap into the organizing work that FEEST youth are leading? Are you interested in showing up for actions and other strategic organizing methods to create change? In FEEST, you will receive leadership training, develop facilitation & public speaking skills, learn about social justice, and build youth power to create more equitable schools.
FEEST is hiring now for 2025-2026 student organizers for mental health and food justice initiatives, with an expected time commitment of 4-6 hours a week. Questions? Email ammara@feestseattle.org

Seattle Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) department maintains an Career Quest SPS Active directory of internships and other career-focused training programs that is updated throughout the year. The programs currently seeking students – and have open applications – are listed at the top. Programs that may not be accepting students now – but will in the future – are listed by CTE pathway below.
This is always the best place to start when looking for opportunities, but if you do not find something you like there, make an appointment with Mr. Ruiz to explore additional opportunities.
Worksite Learning (HS credit for work)

Students who are currently employed can earn high school credit (CTE or other elective credit) for completed working hours! Every 180 hours worked is equivalent to .5 high school elective credits plus an A to boost your GPA for college admissions.

Eligibility for students seeking elective credit for their paid work experience:
- Student must be 16 years of age or older, be legally employed, and have taken a CTE course.
- Complete Bi-Weekly check-in forms documenting your hours.
- Complete a final evaluation form detailing how their specific work experience aligns with their educational goals, imparts work and financial understanding, and the ways this work experience impacts future career and educational opportunities.
College Prep, Fairs, and Info Sessions
Project Family’s Filipino Day Saturday April 19 – Open to all Students
The Filipino American Student Association (FASA) at the University of Washington – through their academics committee, Project Family – is proud to host their annual Filipino Day, an all-day event designed to inspire and empower high school students through culture, connection, and professional development.
Filipino Day will take place on Saturday, April 19, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, at the Samuel E. Kelly Ethnic Cultural Center at the University of Washington Seattle campus.
Throughout the day, students will:
- Participate in workshops focused on professional and personal development
- Engage in cultural activities and performances
- Connect with other high school and college students
- Learn more about the college experience and the importance of cultural identity
This event is free of charge and includes lunch for all attendees. While the event highlights Filipino culture, Filipino Day is open to all high school students, regardless of background, who are interested in attending.

Powerful Voices Offering an Adulting 101 Workshop
Nervous about Adulting? Come get a head start on life in the real world! Learn about topics like Money & Finances, Applying for College & Campus Life, and Healthy Relationships with Powerful Voices at their Adulting 101 event on Saturday, April 26 from 1-5PM at their office in Capitol Hill. This event features free food, fun workshops and panels and a Big Sib Circle, an “ask-me-anything” style conversation where you can get your adult life questions answered. This event is free and open to any interested young person. Capacity is limited so sign up for Powerful Voices Adulting 101 Workshop!
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Alumni Association returning to help you complete scholarship applications
Members of the Franklin Alumni Association will be returning to campus on Friday, April 25 all day to help students complete their scholarship applications. Alumni will be stationed in Room 205 ready to support you, so come with prepared questions or get some feedback on your almost completed essays. Sign up in the Counseling Center to get a pass to attend one of your class periods or stop by during your lunch.
Franklin Alumni Association Scholarships Deadlines Now April 30
Applications for scholarships ONLY available to graduating Franklin seniors are once again open for the 24-25 school year. Ranging between $2,000 and $5,000, these opportunities are your best chance to get extra money for your college or vocational training programs. Because they only go to Franklin students, your odds of getting this money is MUCH higher than most other scholarship opportunities listed in the Scholarship Bulletin.

Scholarships Available for Filipino Graduating Seniors
Filipino American Educators of Washington (FAEW) is proud to continue their longstanding tradition of awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors of Filipino heritage, who are going on to pursue higher education.
Please note that students need a Gmail account in order to fill out the application online.
FAEW Scholarship Application Timeline:

- May 26, 2025 – Scholarship winners notified
- June 10, 2025 – Scholarship award ceremony during FAEW General Membership Meeting

Training and Mentorship Programs
Hurry Future Nurses! UW Nurse Camp Applications Close on April 15!
UW Nurse Camp is free week long camp for current Sophomores and Juniors interested in a career in nursing! The program runs from July 14-18 at UW this summer.
UW Nurse Campers participate in a wide variety of activities throughout the week, including:
- Shadowing nurses in various hospital units at UW Medical Center – Northwest and UW Medical Center – Montlake
- Completing CPR and HIPAA training
- Learning:
- about infection control and proper hand-washing techniques
- how to take blood pressure and vitals
- how to prepare for college and get into nursing school
- in the School of Nursing learning and simulation lab and UW Medicine’s WWAMI Institute for Simulation in Healthcare (WISH) Lab
- Participating in nursing “speed rounds,” where you will meet and talk with nurses working in all areas of health care, including forensics, public health, emergency, and research
- Being mentored by UW School of Nursing students
- Make new friends and memories!

UW Foster School offering 5-day summer leadership summit for young women
Since 2015, UW’s Young Women’s Leadership Summit (YWLS) has been dedicated to empowering rising high school seniors across Washington state to explore what it means to be a woman in the business world. The 5-day summer program is designed to increase their knowledge of the business world by providing them with access to the resources to do so. Students will have the opportunity to learn about business through company visits, various workshops, and networking with professionals, faculty, and staff.
This program is for current juniors attending high schools in the state of Washington, and those who want to explore what it means to be a woman in the business world.
YWLS was created with six goals in mind.
- Increase Knowledge of Business Subjects
- Gain Leadership Skills
- Understand How to Work Effectively in a Team
- Obtain Professional Skills
- Explore Options for Programs of Study
- Discover Career Options

Applications now open for UW Young Executives of Color 2025-26
The Young Executives of Color (YEOC) program, hosted by the Michael G. Foster School of Business and Ernst & Young (EY) since 2006, is a Free nine-month college pipeline program for rising junior and senior high school students. Students attend one UW Young Executives of Color Saturday session every month from September to May at Foster School of Business on the University of Washington’s Seattle campus.
Students will have the opportunity and benefits of:
- Learning about business functions (e.g. Information Systems, Marketing, Finance, etc.)
- Get college prepared through workshops and connecting with UW and Foster admissions
- Professional development opportunities
- Networking with business leaders, faculty, and staff
- Receive mentorship from undergraduate students affiliated with the Foster School

Free Young Women Empowered Summer Camps Begin June 24
Young Women Empowered’s FREE Summer Camps begin on June 24th. Y-WE summer camps provide transformative experiences for young women and trans, non-binary, and gender-expansive youth ages 13-19.
This year’s Summer Camps include:
- BIPOC HORSE CAMP: an overnight camp June 24th – 25th in collaboration with the Buffalo Soldiers of Seattle at Red Barn Ranch in Auburn, Washington.
- BLACK GIRLS BIKE: From June 29 – July 3rd program participants will get to learn the rules of the road, basic bike safety, how to fix a flat tire, how to safely ride around Seattle and more.
- CREATE CAMP: a two-week day camp from July 14th – 25th designed for self-expression and artistic exploration!
- BLACK MERMAIDS: From July 28th – August 1st Chandrika Frances of the Oshun Swim School will curate this five-day exploration of Blackness and water.
- GROW OVERNIGHT CAMP: August 13th – 15th at Ayeko Farm in Enumclaw, WA, where young people will explore a working farm and connect with nature firsthand.
- GROW INTERNSHIP: Dig deep into farming, food justice, and community from July 9th – August 15th (Wed-Fri each week) at Marra Farm in South Park, Seattle! Young people will build leadership skills, confidence, and time management while working alongside peers and mentors.
- WRITE CAMP: Write Camp is the perfect place to explore new genres, grow as a writer, and find your voice in a supportive, creative space. Held August 11th – 17th at the Seattle Public Library’s Downtown location, it’s the ultimate space to fuel creativity and connect with other young writers.

Youth Transportation Summit Offers 7 Service Hours
Want to help shape the future of your community? The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is hosting the Future of Motion Youth Transportation Summit on Saturday, April 26, from 9am-4pm at the Vera Project (305 Harrison St., Seattle). This event qualifies for 7 service learning hours.
This event is for young leaders, advocates, and activists who want to learn about key SDOT projects and how transit agencies work with the community to make them happen. You’ll also get a chance to share your ideas and input on SDOT projects focused on building community, creating green spaces, and achieving climate justice goals.
