If you need help applying and preparing for college, looking for a job, making a resume, or practicing for an interview, the College and Career Center is now open after school for drop-in help with Emily, our UW Dream Project intern. This is a great option for students who do not have time to schedule an appointment during the school day.  As a working UW student, Emily has a lot of great insight and valuable tips to share with you! Drop-in help is available from 4:00-5:30pm Tuesdays and Thursdays until Winter Break.


Paid Internships

$1400 Photography Internship Opportunity, Limited Space so apply now!

Youth in Focus is excited to announce their upcoming paid internship opportunity for BIPOC students! Students receive a $1,400 stipend to spend 17 weeks deep-diving into photography basics, learning Adobe Lightroom, and building a personal brand identity. 

This is the 6th year of the internship, and over these years, Youth in Focus has witnessed many program graduates start their own photography gigs or pursue photography/film in school. This is a great opportunity for students interested in careers in the creative field!

Program Info:

  • January 20th – June 4th, Tuesday and Thursday, 4:30 – 7:00 PM
  • In-person @ Youth in Focus, 2100 24th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144
  • Stipend Amount: $1,400

Students who are currently employed can earn high school credit (CTE or other elective credit) for completed working hours! Every 180 hours worked is equivalent to .5 high school elective credits plus an A to boost your GPA for college admissions.

Eligibility for students seeking elective credit for their paid work experience:

  • Student must be 16 years of age or older, be legally employed, and have taken a CTE course.
  • Complete Bi-Weekly check-in forms documenting your hours.
  • Complete a final evaluation form detailing how their specific work experience aligns with their educational goals, imparts work and financial understanding, and the ways this work experience impacts future career and educational opportunities.

Advisory workshop series for Seniors to help prepare for college

Are you planning to go to college but still don’t really feel prepared? To help ease your worries, our UW Dream Project Intern, Emily, will lead a series of workshops during three upcoming Advisory periods called “What I Wish I Knew,” where she will talk about the things that she wished people would have told her as she was preparing for college. She will cover tips and strategies that she felt would have helped her transition go a lot more smoothly in three different periods of her planning:

  • November 19: The Last Semester of High School
  • December 3: The Summer Before College
  • December 17: The First Year of College

This is an incredibly valuable series that any college-bound senior should want to take. BUT, there are only 15 spots available, so SIGN UP NOW to secure your spot TODAY. You will receive a pass from your Advisory teacher to attend the sessions in Room 205a. This series is currently only open to graduating, college-bound Seniors.

You must REGISTER IN ADVANCE to attend these sessions.

College Application Help

Seniors, college application help continues on Thursdays at lunchtime throughout the application season. Counselors will be in the Library during both lunches to support with Common App, Seattle Promise, personal statements, scholarships, and financial aid. Drop-in at any time during your lunch, no appointment necessary.

Additionally, college search, application, and decision-making help is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 4-5:30pm in the College and Career Center, Room 205a, provided by the UW Dream Project.

The GSBA Scholarship & Education Fund strives to uplift rising LGBTQ+ and actively allied leaders from Washington State as they pursue their post-secondary education. They offer financial awards, typically between $5,500-$13,000, educational programming, networking events, field trips, job shadows, a summer weekend retreat, and a supportive community – whether you’re working towards a trade, certificate, 2-year degree, or 4-year degree.

Seattle Promise (2 years Free Tuition) Application Now Open!

Seattle Promise is a college tuition and success program launched by Seattle Colleges, Seattle Public Schools, and the City of Seattle. It offers free tuition at any of the Seattle Colleges: North Seattle CollegeSeattle Central College or South Seattle College for up to two years, 90 college credits or a student’s first degree, whichever comes first.

All graduating seniors attending Seattle public high schools are eligible for the Seattle Promise program regardless of grade point average (GPA), income, ability, or country of birth. But you MUST APPLY to claim your free tuition. The application deadline is February 13.

Even if you are expecting to attend a 4-year university after high school, sometimes plans change, and you do not want to miss out on free tuition for 2 years. Pathways Program Available for Chinese and Southeast Asian students, Stipend and Service Hours available

2026 Pathways to Our Future (PTOF) cohort is an after-school program is designed to help Chinese and Southeast Asian immigrant high school students, such as Vietnamese, Filipino, Khmer, Lao, Burmese, Mien, and Hmong youth, build career readiness skills, explore career pathways, and gain hands-on work experience.

UW Dental Academy 2026 program application is now open for students to apply!

The UW Dental Academy is a free 2-session, hands-on program designed for high school students interested in exploring dental careers. Students will participate in various activities, including hands on activities, a mentor panel, college prep materials, and team-building exercises, all focused on dentistry. The sessions will take place in person at the University of Washington Seattle campus.  

Dental Academy 2026 Schedule:

  • Session 1: Saturday, January 31st, 2026, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM  
  • Session 2: Saturday, February 7th, 2026, 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM   

The application deadline is Sunday, November 16th, 2025, at 11:59 PM. Students can apply through the online application, which includes the following sections:  

  1. Personal Information
  2. Parent/Guardian Information
  3. Personal Statemen: 500 words or less describing their motivation and experiences related to dental care. 
  4. Reference: Students will be expected to find a reference and have them complete the form listed at the end of their application.

ReadyWork$ Job Training Program Recruiting for Winter job readiness classes

ReadyWork$ Youth is a free job-readiness training that helps participants build confidence and develop the skills needed to obtain employment and succeed.

This free program is designed for youth ages 16+ who are looking to begin their career exploration, as well as those seeking internships, apprenticeships, or part-time/full-time employment. The curriculum includes key topics such as professional presence, effective resume writing, and interview practice, as well as the soft skills needed to land and keep a job.

Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00-7:15pm during the months of January and February at the New Holly Gathering Hall: 7054 32nd Ave S. Seattle, WA 98118

At the end of the program, participants may will received priority interview or hiring from partner employers for a long-term part-time entry level position on Feb 19th on site at the New Holly Gathering Hall. 

Thriving Elements Seeking STEM-focused students for Mentorship Opportunity

Service-Learning Opportunities

Local snowboarding program offers leadership service opportunity, Application Deadline 11/14

Interested in getting service-learning credit while also learning how to snowboard and going on fun outings in the snow? the Service Board brings together a group of high school students and adult mentors from a diverse range of academic, racial, cultural and economic backgrounds to engage in their Core Program. Program participants meet twice weekly from beginning of winter through spring. Weekday workshops focus on engaging discussions encompassing a broad range of social justice topics. Weekend activities during Core Program – The Service Board rotate between intensive service-learning projects and snowboarding outings.

This year’s Core Program will be four months long, beginning in late January and ending in mid-May, meeting on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Music, snowballs, fresh food and a sense of community are the common threads that tie the Core Program together. tSB emphasizes the importance of youth voice, supportive community and promoting positive risk-taking to build youth leadership skills.

Impact! Safe Schools student leadership conference "Healthy Minds, Healthy Communities"

Registration is now open for the IMPACT Safe Schools Student Leadership Conference on Monday, November 17, 2025, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, at Seattle University.

This year’s focus is drug and alcohol abuse prevention, mental health awareness, and other school safety issues. Guest speakers and partners include Seattle Public Schools Mental Health Services, CHOOSE 180, and the Therapy Fund Foundation.

There will also be prizes, engaging activities, and valuable resources to support you in making difference at school and in your community. There are 50 student slots available citywide. Registration will close on Friday, November 7th at 5 p.m.

Outdoors for All offering service opportunity assisting Snowsports Programs

Outdoors for All is currently recruiting winter volunteers to support adaptive snowsports programs. Outdoors for All is a Seattle-based nonprofit that enriches the lives of children and adults with disabilities through outdoor recreation. We offer year-round programs including cycling, kayaking, rock climbing, snowsports, and more.

Winter Volunteer Opportunities (January–March). On-Snow training is in December.

Students (age 14+) and adults can volunteer 3–7 days to support adaptive skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing at:

  • The Summit at Snoqualmie: Wednesday nights, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays
  • Stevens Pass: Saturdays and Sundays

Sign-ups are open now! Volunteers encouraged to register by January 1.

Earn up to 30 service hours by growing leadership skills, connecting with the community, and taking cooking and gardening classes in Interim CDA’s Fall Program, WILD (Wilderness Inner-City Leadership).

WILD fosters confident, informed, compassionate, civically-engaged refugee and immigrant youth leaders. They primarily serve approximately 100 low-income Asian and Pacific Islanders ages 14-18 each year, through their award winning, year-round environmental justice leadership development program.
