Pacific Science Center Now Hiring Camp Aides for Summer Programs
Pacific Science Center has ignited curiosity for more than 60 years. Since its founding as the nation’s first science and technology center, PacSci has worked to expand access to science, serve as a vital resource for educators, and fuel discovery and experimentation as a vibrant community laboratory. They host a Camp for Young Minds each summer.
Camp Aide is a part-time role at 5 different locations across Seattle. The Camp Aide will ensure smooth camp programming by providing support to classroom educators and camp location site leads as directed. This position upholds the mission to provide safe, interactive, week-long STEM camps for school age children to spark lifelong curiosity, significantly enhance the participant’s experience and expand Pacific Science Center’s role as a driving force for informal science education.

Paid Internships
Spring Internship Available to ONLY FRANKLIN students interested in Community Engagement or Transportation, Applications due Jan 15
Are you interested in learning more about urban planning, community advocacy, and transportation
justice? Are you looking for a service learning experience as well? If so, you should apply for the 3-4 month PAID internship at the Seattle Department of Transportation! As a Safe Routes to School High School Intern, you will plan and lead a school project to help students and families walking and biking to school. There are two positions available this year, and they are both open to only Franklin High School students.
Some project examples:
- Host a bike rodeo at an elementary school
- Lead a workshop for middle schoolers on how to ride transit
- Host a bike/walk/roll event or competition at your own high school
Interested students should apply through the Seattle Youth Employment Program’s Learn & Earn Pathways Program. The program will run in the 2025-26 school year for 3-4 months starting in January. Students receive stipends based on participation.
Applications will close at 5PM on Thursday, January 15th, 2026.
SYEP Business and Software Development PAID Programs also accepting applications until January 15
SYEP is offering an entrepreneurship program paying $1000 and a Software Development Program paying $1200, both for evening and weekend work that generally runs through May 2026. For more information, visit the SYEP: Earn and Learn Pathways Program website. Applications are due January 15.
Applications for Seattle Children’s Summer Research Institute Now Open, $2000 stipend
The Seattle Children’s Science Education Department is once again hosting a paid, transformative 4-week experience for students currently in grades 10 and 11 who want to learn more about biology laboratory research.
The Research Training Program is an in-person program with a competitive application process and is intended for local students who reside within commuting distance of downtown Seattle. Activities include:
- Lectures and labs on topics including immunology and infectious diseases
- Independent research project and final oral presentation
- Workshops on career exploration and college preparation
Program Dates: July 13-August 7, 2026
Applications are due March 8, 2026. A $2000 stipend will paid to students to offset costs for transportation and meals.

World Relief Western Washington Seeking Immigrant and Refugee Youth for Internship Opportunity
World Relief Western Washington is an organization focused on creating pathways for refugees and immigrants to reconnect with their personal joys and goals for the future. The Equity & Sustainability Internship offers paid opportunities for high school students passionate about sustainable community development. Interns gain hands-on work experience in their community garden and learning kitchen, engaging in activities like blackberry removal, meal prep, inventory updates, and ecological surveys. Throughout the summer, interns lead projects, support events, and explore career paths in sustainability and community resilience through workshops and field trips—building skills and making a lasting impact in their communities.

Teens in Public Service hires teens from all over the Puget Sound region for an enriching summer experience that inspires our next generation of community leaders. High School students between the ages of 15-19 who have a passion for serving their community can now apply for their paid internship opportunity.
TIPS interns gain…
- A summer’s worth of impactful work experience
- Exposure to the “behind the scenes” of nonprofit orgs carrying out community-centered work
- Mentorship, networking opportunity, and support from TIPS and their nonprofit supervisors / coworkers
- A paycheck – interns will be paid Seattle minimum wage, which will be $21.30 in 2026
What you need to apply:

Seattle Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) department maintains an Career Quest SPS Active directory of internships and other career-focused training programs that is updated throughout the year. The programs currently seeking students – and have open applications – are listed at the top. Programs that may not be accepting students now – but will in the future – are listed by CTE pathway below.
This is always the best place to start when looking for opportunities, but if you do not find something you like there, make an appointment with Mr. Ruiz to explore additional opportunities.
Worksite Learning (HS credit for work)

Students who are currently employed can earn high school credit (CTE or other elective credit) for completed working hours! Every 180 hours worked is equivalent to .5 high school elective credits plus an A to boost your GPA for college admissions.

Eligibility for students seeking elective credit for their paid work experience:
- Student must be 16 years of age or older, be legally employed, and have taken a CTE course.
- Complete Bi-Weekly check-in forms documenting your hours.
- Complete a final evaluation form detailing how their specific work experience aligns with their educational goals, imparts work and financial understanding, and the ways this work experience impacts future career and educational opportunities.

Upward Bound, a federally funded program that prepares first generation and/or low-income students to enter and complete college, is now welcoming applications through February 11, 2026.

Stanford University Pre-College Program Now Accepting Applications
You are invited to explore the enriching academic programs offered by Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies. This summer, they are offering a range of online and residential programs designed for motivated, intellectually curious pre-college students. These programs provide students with the chance to delve into advanced topics beyond the standard high school curriculum, with subjects spanning art, business, computer science, humanities, math, science, and social justice.

The Northwestern Pre-College Online Program offers engaging online courses in business, law, medicine, and STEM that help you do just that. Courses are led by Northwestern University faculty and supported by mentors who guide students throughout the experience. $16,000 College Scholarships just for South Seattle Students
Achieve the dream of a college education! The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund awards
college scholarships up to $16,000 to South Seattle high school seniors who show financial need and academic promise, have overcome obstacles, and contribute to their community.
The scholarship grants students $4,000 per year and is renewable for 4 years of college ($16K total) – with options for 2-year programs or 2-year to 4-year transfer pathways as well.
Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Application Eligibility – to be considered for the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship, students must:
- Be a high school senior who is a resident of or attending school in one of the following zip codes and be on track to graduate by June 2023: 98104, 98108, 98118, 98122, 98134, 98144
- Have a family income for 2024 that does not exceed the amount listed by family size in this chart
- Have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 through fall 2025 term.
- Plan to enroll at a not-for-profit, accredited college or university in the United States starting in fall 2026.
- File a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA)
- Complete and submit the application along with the required supporting documents.
Please note: International students, students on foreign exchange or visas and out-of-state residents are not eligible.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is a sponsored activity of the Mt. Baker Community Club.
Cascade Warbirds Offering Scholarship for Private Pilot Training – Applications Due February 28
Cascade Warbirds, an organization that promotes the restoration, preservation, operation and public display of historically significant military aircraft, is offering scholarships for Private Pilot Ground School with Introductory Flights to inspire today’s young people to become the aviation pioneers of tomorrow. The awards will be made so that students may begin with the first opportunities of the season with flight schools in April.
Recognizing the cost of the flight training required for a pilot’s license, the scholarship program offers an additional $2,500 Continuing Aviation Education Grant to one scholarship recipient who intends to earn their FAA private pilot certificate within the following year. Applicants must complete the ground school course, both introductory flights, and submit an essay by November 30 of the scholarship year.
This scholarship is available for students between the ages of 16 and 21 at the time of award. This scholarship is valued at $1,350. The deadline to apply is February 28, 2026.

Seattle Promise (2 years Free Tuition) Applications are Due February 13!
Seattle Promise is a college tuition and success program launched by Seattle Colleges, Seattle Public Schools, and the City of Seattle. It offers free tuition at any of the Seattle Colleges: North Seattle College, Seattle Central College or South Seattle College for up to two years, 90 college credits or a student’s first degree, whichever comes first.
All graduating seniors attending Seattle public high schools are eligible for the Seattle Promise program regardless of grade point average (GPA), income, ability, or country of birth. But you MUST APPLY to claim your free tuition. The application deadline is February 13.
Even if you are expecting to attend a 4-year university after high school, sometimes plans change, and you do not want to miss out on free tuition for 2 years. You cannot apply to Seattle Promise after February 16, so do it now even if it is a backup plan. Find out more information about the Seattle Promise and Apply for Seattle Promise Now!

Training and Mentorship Programs
SPS Skilled Trades Pre-Apprenticeship Program now accepting applications for 2026-27 School Year
Application links have already gone out for the SPS pre-apprenticeship 26-27 to 11th graders who have requested them, so now is the time to apply if you are interested. For the 26-27 school year, SPS pre-apprenticeship will be offered at Ingraham High School periods 1/2/3, Interagency Academy in Columbia City periods 4/5/6, and Interagency Academy in Columbia City periods 1/2/3 if the number of applicants is sufficient to add an additional cohort.
Here are the application questions you can begin preparing before you apply:
- 1.) Name and home high school. (Demographic data pulled from Power Schools)
- 2.) Why do you want to join SPS pre-apprenticeship and why do you want to enter a construction apprenticeship after graduation?
- 3.) What do you expect to learn in the SPS pre-apprenticeship? What past training have you had?
- 4.) What paid or volunteer experience make you a strong candidate for apprenticeship after graduation?
- 5.) What experiences have built your collaboration skills? What does it mean to be a team player?
- 6.) Construction work & training requires managing safety risks. How do you keep yourself and other safe?

Build 2 Lead’s Closing the G.A.P. Workforce Development Program for 16-24 Year Olds, Cohort Starts in January
The no-cost Closing the G.A.P. (Gaining Access Through Preparation) program provides youth ages 16-24 with over 100 hours of work development training. With a focus on green jobs, students graduate with resumes, interview experience, business plans, and industry-recognized credentials.
Program includes: 10 micro-credentials leading to a federally recognized Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate as Environmental Specialists; Access to internships and jobs with King County Wastewater Treatment Division, Waste Management, and local colleges; Individualized case management and workforce readiness training; and a $100 gift card and $150 resource stipend.

Service-Learning Opportunities
UW Botanical Gardens Junior Naturist Program Now Recruiting for Summer Service Hours
Junior Naturalists are teens volunteering with UW Botanic Gardens Summer Camp. This is a great service project if you are enthusiastic about working with kids, playing outside, and gaining leadership skills. Junior Naturalists will be paired with a Summer Camp Naturalist and assist them in their responsibilities for a small group of campers.
Junior Naturalists will have the opportunity to lead games and activities with the guidance of their Naturalist. This position is designed to provide experience and skills in teaching and working with children, and develop leadership skills. You can earn up to 75 service hours participating in this program.
- WHO: Teens ages 15 – 18
- WHEN: Junior Naturalists serve for at least one of the five 2-week sessions that run from June 22 thru August 28
- WHERE: Washington Park Arboretum & Center for Urban Horticulture
- COST: Free. This is a volunteer opportunity. Junior Naturalists may use this experience to meet service hour requirements. A reference letter is also available at the successful completion of the two weeks.
