There are not many jobs out there right now, but very soon most retail stores will be hiring for Seasonal/Holiday workers, so keep checking every other Tuesday for opportunities.
Dell Computers Hiring Remote Data Entry Job for Teens
Join Dell Technologies as an entry-level remote data entry operator designed specifically for teenagers. In this part-time role, you will collect and enter data, organize electronic files, perform regular backups, and assist our customer support team with data-related issues. No prior experience is required – on‐the‐job training is provided. Applicants should be high school students or recent graduates with basic computer skills and a typing speed of at least 40 words per minute. Deadline to apply is March 10, 2026.

Drop-in Job Search, Resume Building, and Interview Help Now Available
If you need help applying and preparing for college, looking for a job, making a resume, or practicing for an interview, the College and Career Center is now open after school for drop-in help with Emily, our UW Dream Project intern. This is a great option for students who do not have time to schedule an appointment during the school day. As a working UW student, Emily has a lot of great insight and valuable tips to share with you! Drop-in help is available from 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays until Winter Break.
Paid Internships
Youth Leadership & Advocacy Program offers PAID opportunity Feb-May, Apply by Dec 19
Are you looking for a paid opportunity to develop your leadership capacity, learn about education advocacy, and help make decisions about how to allocate funds towards education-related causes you care about? You’ll connect with others like yourself and learn how to turn your passion for social and racial justice into real-world solutions through deep learning sessions with local experts and mentors. At the end of these sessions, you’ll work together to create and distribute funds that support education-related causes you value.
The SESEC Youth Leadership Program is looking for Southeast Seattle-based youth (particularly youth of color) in Grades 9-12 (approx. aged 15-21) from Franklin High School to be part of a cohort that will decide on how to spend $10,000 to benefit your school communities.
Participants will be paid a stipend of $25/hour for attending meetings. The sessions will be IN PERSON February through May at the SESEC office in El Centro De La Raza (2524 16th Ave South, Suite #306 Seattle, WA 98144).

Get a great-paying summer internship while doing service for your community, Apply by March 2
Teens in Public Service hires teens from all over the Puget Sound region for an enriching summer experience that inspires our next generation of community leaders. High School students between the ages of 15-19 who have a passion for serving their community can now apply for their paid internship opportunity.
What you need to apply:
- First, check the Eligibility Requirements
- Then, complete and submit the online internship application. All applications must be completed and submitted by noon (12pm PST) on Monday, March 2nd, 2026.
- Before submitting, obtain two letters of recommendation. Your letter writers must submit your letters of recommendation by the application deadline (noon on March 2nd, 2026). The link to submit your letters is included within the application and should be shared with your letter writers as soon as possible.

- Dates: July 7th to August 20th.
- Potential Site Assignments: Everett, Renton, Auburn
- Shifts: 8 hours with 30 min lunch, 6AM to 2:30PM
- Students will work Monday through Thursday. Students will not work on Fridays, with the exception of Friday, July 10th, which is during orientation week and will be a working day.

Seattle Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) department maintains an Career Quest SPS Active directory of internships and other career-focused training programs that is updated throughout the year. The programs currently seeking students – and have open applications – are listed at the top. Programs that may not be accepting students now – but will in the future – are listed by CTE pathway below.
This is always the best place to start when looking for opportunities, but if you do not find something you like there, make an appointment with Mr. Ruiz to explore additional opportunities.
Worksite Learning (HS credit for work)
Students who are currently employed can earn high school credit (CTE or other elective credit) for completed working hours! Every 180 hours worked is equivalent to .5 high school elective credits plus an A to boost your GPA for college admissions.

Eligibility for students seeking elective credit for their paid work experience:
- Student must be 16 years of age or older, be legally employed, and have taken a CTE course.
- Complete Bi-Weekly check-in forms documenting your hours.
- Complete a final evaluation form detailing how their specific work experience aligns with their educational goals, imparts work and financial understanding, and the ways this work experience impacts future career and educational opportunities.

UW Academy Offers Early College Entry for Highly Capable Students, Apply as 10th graders
The UW Academy, created in 2001 in partnership with the University of Washington Honors Program, is an early university admission opportunity for 10th grade students in Washington State. Every year, a small cohort of up to forty academically advanced and highly motivated students are admitted to the UW Academy.
Students apply to the program during their 10th grade year, and if accepted, withdraw from high school at the end of 10th grade to enroll as freshmen at the University of Washington. At the Robinson Center, UW Academy students find a community of like-minded peers and an experienced staff who can help them to make the most of their time at the UW.
Applications are now being accepted for the Fall 2026 cohort and are due by February 17, 2026. Review the Application Guide before applying if you are serious about this opportunity.
College Application Help
Seniors, college application help continues on Thursdays at lunchtime throughout the application season. Counselors will be in the Library during both lunches to support with Common App, Seattle Promise, personal statements, scholarships, and financial aid. Drop-in at any time during your lunch, no appointment necessary.
Additionally, college search, application, and decision-making help is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school from 4-5:30pm in the College and Career Center, Room 205a, provided by the UW Dream Project.

Family Financial Aid Night December 11
The Counseling Department is partnering with Seattle Promise to provide a free FAFSA/WASFA Financial Aid Support Night on Thursday, December 11, from 5:30-7pm in the FHS Library.
Receive personalized support from Nancy Le, Seattle Promise Outreach Specialist, members of our Counseling Team, and our UW Dream Project Intern Emily. Students are encouraged to bring parents/guardians as there is a portion of the application that requires their participation.
Light refreshments will be provided. Bring your laptop and have your Social Security number ready (if you have one). If you do not have a Social Security number, that is OK, because there is another financial aid option available.
Now is the time to start applying for as many scholarships as you can!

$16,000 College Scholarships just for South Seattle Students
Achieve the dream of a college education! The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Fund awards
college scholarships up to $16,000 to South Seattle high school seniors who show financial need and academic promise, have overcome obstacles, and contribute to their community.
The scholarship grants students $4,000 per year and is renewable for 4 years of college ($16K total) – with options for 2-year programs or 2-year to 4-year transfer pathways as well.
Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Application Eligibility – to be considered for the Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship, students must:
- Be a high school senior who is a resident of or attending school in one of the following zip codes and be on track to graduate by June 2023: 98104, 98108, 98118, 98122, 98134, 98144
- Have a family income for 2024 that does not exceed the amount listed by family size in this chart
- Have achieved a minimum GPA of 3.0 through fall 2025 term.
- Plan to enroll at a not-for-profit, accredited college or university in the United States starting in fall 2026.
- File a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA)
- Complete and submit the application along with the required supporting documents.
Please note: International students, students on foreign exchange or visas and out-of-state residents are not eligible.

The Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship is a sponsored activity of the Mt. Baker Community Club.
Seattle Promise (2 years Free Tuition) Applications are Due February 13!
Seattle Promise is a college tuition and success program launched by Seattle Colleges, Seattle Public Schools, and the City of Seattle. It offers free tuition at any of the Seattle Colleges: North Seattle College, Seattle Central College or South Seattle College for up to two years, 90 college credits or a student’s first degree, whichever comes first.
All graduating seniors attending Seattle public high schools are eligible for the Seattle Promise program regardless of grade point average (GPA), income, ability, or country of birth. But you MUST APPLY to claim your free tuition. The application deadline is February 13.
Even if you are expecting to attend a 4-year university after high school, sometimes plans change, and you do not want to miss out on free tuition for 2 years. You cannot apply to Seattle Promise after February 16, so do it now even if it is a backup plan. Find out more information about the Seattle Promise and Apply for Seattle Promise Now!

Scholarship opportunities from previous newsletters still available
Amazon Future Engineer students can boost their future for themselves and their community with the support of college funding, paid internships, and industry mentors.
You can receive a scholarship of up to $40,000 (up to $10,000/year) towards an undergraduate degree in computer science and an offer to complete a summer internship at Amazon!
Eligibility Requirements:
- Be a high school senior in the U.S. who is currently enrolled in or who has completed a high school or college dual degree course where computer science is the subject.
- Be planning to attain a bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or other computer science related field of study from an accredited 4-year college or from a 2-year college with the intent to transfer to a 4-year college.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Example: Employment Authorization Document holder, Permanent Resident, or U.S. Citizen.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.3 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent).
- Must demonstrate financial need. This opportunity is to support students with a substantial need for financial assistance.

The GSBA Scholarship & Education Fund strives to uplift rising LGBTQ+ and actively allied leaders from Washington State as they pursue their post-secondary education. They offer financial awards, typically between $5,500-$13,000, educational programming, networking events, field trips, job shadows, a summer weekend retreat, and a supportive community – whether you’re working towards a trade, certificate, 2-year degree, or 4-year degree.
All applications are due by 12 p.m. PST on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Training and Mentorship Programs
ReadyWork$ Job Training Program Recruiting for Winter job readiness classes
ReadyWork$ Youth is a free job-readiness training that helps participants build confidence and develop the skills needed to obtain employment and succeed.
This free program is designed for youth ages 16+ who are looking to begin their career exploration, as well as those seeking internships, apprenticeships, or part-time/full-time employment. The curriculum includes key topics such as professional presence, effective resume writing, and interview practice, as well as the soft skills needed to land and keep a job.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:00 p.m – 7:15 p.m. during the months of January and February at the New Holly Gathering Hall: 7054 32nd Ave S. Seattle, WA 98118
At the end of the program, participants may will received priority interview or hiring from partner employers for a long-term part-time entry level position on Feb 19th on site at the New Holly Gathering Hall.

2026 Pathways to Our Future (PTOF) cohort is an after-school program is designed to help Chinese and Southeast Asian immigrant high school students, such as Vietnamese, Filipino, Khmer, Lao, Burmese, Mien, and Hmong youth, build career readiness skills, explore career pathways, and gain hands-on work experience.

Thriving Elements is a high quality mentoring program whose mission is to create access and opportunities for students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM).
Upon selection into the program, you are matched with a STEM professional who will help prepare you for college and a professional career in STEM. Once you become a member of the TE (Thriving Elements) community, you can expect quarterly leadership events where mentors and mentees from all locations get together to participate in mentoring and teambuilding activities. Service-Learning Opportunities
Sign up NOW to Volunteer with Seattle Public Library for Service Hours in the Spring
Are you interested in earning your service-learning hours at Seattle Public Library’s Beacon Hill, Columbia, or Rainier Beach branches? This is a very popular volunteer opportunity, and spaces fill up quickly, so the Library is starting to recruit NOW for Spring service opportunities.
Fill out the Interest Form now, and you will be notified as soon as opportunities open for the Spring. In the meantime, visit the Libraries’ Teen website for more information about other programs and services offered, including homework, tutoring, and college and job application help.

Need volunteer hours? Looking for an internship or independent study project? Interested in designing a garden, planting and harvesting food, or building a farm stand, garden beds, or compost bin?
The Beacon Food Forest is looking for teen volunteers to help in their Young People’s Garden in late 2025 and early 2026. If you’re 14-19 years old and curious about gardening, protecting the earth, growing food, design, construction, or mentoring younger kids, they’d love to have you join them!
Well-qualified volunteers may be offered paid positions mentoring younger children/youth in Spring/Summer of 2026.
Volunteer sessions are two hours and usually the 3rd Saturday of each month from 10am-12pm, starting in November (although you can begin any time).

If you are looking to build your resume with a volunteer job entry while also earning most or all of your service learning hours, you should consider volunteering with 425 Tutoring for students grades K-6 in all subjects (Math, English, etc.)!
Must be a current high school student to participate. (Must be at least 14 years old)
- Develop individual lesson plans and activities using Google Slides, Powerpoints, etc.
- Virtually tutor using Google Meets, ZOOM, etc. (ALL VIRTUAL)
- Work with 2+ students per tutoring session
- 2-4 service hours per week (1- 2 hours of direct tutoring, 1-2 preparation)
- Must commit to 8 weeks of tutoring!
- Flexible times! Works with your schedule

- US High School Student OR 8th grade student, fluent in English, good with kids, access to internet
Outdoors for All is currently recruiting winter volunteers to support adaptive snowsports programs. Outdoors for All is a Seattle-based nonprofit that enriches the lives of children and adults with disabilities through outdoor recreation. We offer year-round programs including cycling, kayaking, rock climbing, snowsports, and more.
Winter Volunteer Opportunities (January–March). On-Snow training is in December.
Students (age 14+) and adults can volunteer 3–7 days to support adaptive skiing, snowboarding, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing at:
- The Summit at Snoqualmie: Wednesday nights, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays
- Stevens Pass: Saturdays and Sundays
Sign-ups are open now! Volunteers encouraged to register by January 1.
Earn up to 30 service hours by growing leadership skills, connecting with the community, and taking cooking and gardening classes in Interim CDA’s Fall Program, WILD (Wilderness Inner-City Leadership).
WILD fosters confident, informed, compassionate, civically-engaged refugee and immigrant youth leaders. They primarily serve approximately 100 low-income Asian and Pacific Islanders ages 14-18 each year, through their award winning, year-round environmental justice leadership development program.
