Drop-in Job Search, Resume Building, and Interview Help Now Available
If you need help applying and preparing for college, looking for a job, making a resume, or practicing for an interview, the College and Career Center is now open after school for drop-in help with Emily, our UW Dream Project intern. This is a great option for students who do not have time to schedule an appointment during the school day. As a working UW student, Emily has a lot of great insight and valuable tips to share with you! Drop-in help is available from 3:45 p.m.-5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Summer 2026 SPS Career Quest internship applications are now open! These 2-4 week classes offer students the chance to gain work experience or complete a career intensive while earning money (hourly pay, stipend check, and gift card). Inclusive Arts Internship Program Accepting Applications for Summer
AIM Seattle is now accepting applications from individuals (ages 16+) who wish to learn more about disability, inclusion and advocacy to serve as paid interns at AIM’s arts camps for people with disabilities. Interns in this program are involved in one or more of our weekly classes by supporting group members, acting as a Lead for volunteers, assisting Teaching Artists and Support Staff, and assisting with set-up and clean-up before, during and after class. Interns will also determine their own learning goals and a special project to complete during their time in the program.
Summer interns are expected to commit to a minimum of one week of summer camp (Monday through Thursday), with the option of interning for 1-2 additional camp weeks. Summer camp season begins mid-July through the end of August.

World Relief Western Washington Seeking Immigrant and Refugee Youth for Internship Opportunity
World Relief Western Washington is an organization focused on creating pathways for refugees and immigrants to reconnect with their personal joys and goals for the future. The Equity & Sustainability Internship offers paid opportunities for high school students passionate about sustainable community development. Interns gain hands-on work experience in their community garden and learning kitchen, engaging in activities like blackberry removal, meal prep, inventory updates, and ecological surveys. Throughout the summer, interns lead projects, support events, and explore career paths in sustainability and community resilience through workshops and field trips—building skills and making a lasting impact in their communities.

Seattle Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) department maintains an Career Quest SPS Active directory of internships and other career-focused training programs that is updated throughout the year. The programs currently seeking students – and have open applications – are listed at the top. Programs that may not be accepting students now – but will in the future – are listed by CTE pathway below.
This is always the best place to start when looking for opportunities, but if you do not find something you like there, make an appointment with Mr. Ruiz to explore additional opportunities.
Worksite Learning (HS credit for work)

Students who are currently employed can earn high school credit (CTE or other elective credit) for completed working hours! Every 180 hours worked is equivalent to .5 high school elective credits plus an A to boost your GPA for college admissions.

Eligibility for students seeking elective credit for their paid work experience:
- Student must be 16 years of age or older, be legally employed, and have taken a CTE course.
- Complete Bi-Weekly check-in forms documenting your hours.
- Complete a final evaluation form detailing how their specific work experience aligns with their educational goals, imparts work and financial understanding, and the ways this work experience impacts future career and educational opportunities.

UW Upward Bound applications now open for college preparation support
Upward Bound, a federally funded program that prepares first generation and/or low-income students to enter and complete college, is now welcoming applications through February 11, 2026.

UW STEMsub now accepting applications for next cohort beginning this Summer, 10th graders only

The mission of UW STEMsub (Math Science Upward Bound) is to help low income and potential first-generation college students succeed in high school, get accepted to college and STEM majors, and graduate with a STEM degree.

Summer Academy includes: six weeks of STEM classes at UW taught by professors (one semester of high school credit per class), research opportunities, field trips, and a lunch stipend.
Academic Year support includes: weekly academic advising and tutoring, Saturday college/career prep workshops, graduation assistance, SAT/ACT prep, help with college application essays, service learning hours, and a paid stipend for your full participation.
Eligibility:
- Current 10th grader (applications are not being accepted at this time for 11th graders)
- Motivated to go to college and are interested in pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) or the Medical/Health Care field;
- Are the first generation in your family to earn a 4-year college degree and/or come from a low-income family. Most students who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch are eligible
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident not already participating in another Upward Bound or TRIO Talent Search Program.

Washington State Opportunity Scholarship Application Now Open
The Washington State Opportunity Scholarship Baccalaureate Scholarship (BaS) is an incredible opportunity for Washington students — providing support that goes beyond just tuition! The scholarship provides up to $22,500 in financial aid, mentorship, and career resources to students pursuing high-demand careers in STEM and health care in Washington state.
Key Benefits for Students:
- Scholarship up to $22,500 to cover tuition, fees, and expenses.
- Access to mentorship programs and career-building networks.
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a Washington state resident. WSOS accepts undocumented students.
- Plan to pursue or be currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an eligible STEM or health care major at an eligible Washington state college or university.
- Have a family income that does not exceed 125% of Washington state median family income. Example: a family of four may not exceed $174,500 per year.

Seattle Children’s Offering 3 Healthcare Summer Camps, Applications Now Open
Seattle Children’s has just opened applications for THREE 2026 high school summer camps.
- Seattle Children’s Nurse Camp: During this five-day camp, students will gain insight into the world of pediatric nursing by participating in clinical observation sessions. In these sessions, students will shadow nurses in a clinical environment and observe as they provide patient care and interact with patients and families. Camp dates: July 13 – July 17, 2026. - Seattle Children’s Mental & Behavioral Health Camp: During this five-day camp, students will explore careers within the mental & behavioral health field. - Seattle Children’s Scrubs & ‘Scopes Camp: During this five-day camp, students will explore various allied health careers by job shadowing medical assistants, pharmacists, laboratory scientists and technicians/technologists in Pharmacy, Radiology, Surgery, Sterile Processing and Anesthesia in a clinical environment, observing as they provide patient care. UDOC Health Equity Summer Program Application Due March 20
UDOC is a free 6-week hybrid (3 weeks, virtual, 3 weeks in-person) summer residential program held on the University of Washington campus. The program exposes students to an array of health professions and serves approximately 30 students per summer. Open to all students, this summer enrichment program is for current juniors in high school across the State of Washington who have an interest in the health professions.
UDOC’s goal is to foster, affirm, and encourage high school students’ interest in health careers by allowing further exploration of professional and allied health fields through experiential action-based curriculum.
Time: Must be available to attend the program June 22-July 21, 2026

Interview Dates (by invitation): Saturday, April 4 or Sunday, April 5, 2026

Learn to code at Computing for All! Computing for All offers a Full Stack Web Development Pre-Apprenticeship Program for Washington state students.
Learn to code, build professional job skills, and network with employers:

What’s a Pre-Apprenticeship Program?
A training program to provide you with the technical and professional skills to qualify for an industry apprenticeship, as well as internships, and entry level jobs. You will create a portfolio, gain certifications, learn new job skills, get mentorship from tech professionals, and get help navigating the next steps in your career.
To qualify, you must be:
- A Washington state resident
- Between 16 and 24 years old
- In need of financial assistance

Service-Learning Opportunities
Launch seeking students to help operate annual festival, up to 6 hours
Launch is a local organization providing afterschool programs for elementary age students, as well as preschools throughout Seattle.
They are hoping to recruit some high school age volunteers for their annual Family Carnival, tentatively scheduled for May 30th, 2026 at Van Asselt Community Center. See information about last years event.
Volunteers are asked for at least 2 hours, with potential of closer to 6 hours if you stay for set-up/clean-up. You also would be able to participate in the games and lunch would be provided!

UW Botanical Gardens Junior Naturalist Program Still Recruiting for Summer Service Hours, Spaces are filling up!
Junior Naturalists are teens volunteering with UW Botanic Gardens Summer Camp. This is a great service project if you are enthusiastic about working with kids, playing outside, and gaining leadership skills. Junior Naturalists will be paired with a Summer Camp Naturalist and assist them in their responsibilities for a small group of campers.
Junior Naturalists will have the opportunity to lead games and activities with the guidance of their Naturalist. This position is designed to provide experience and skills in teaching and working with children, and develop leadership skills. You can earn up to 75 service hours participating in this program.
- Who: Teens ages 15 – 18
- When: Junior Naturalists serve for at least one of the five 2-week sessions that run from June 22 thru August 28
- Where: Washington Park Arboretum & Center for Urban Horticulture
- Cost: Free. This is a volunteer opportunity. Junior Naturalists may use this experience to meet service hour requirements. A reference letter is also available at the successful completion of the two weeks.
