YouthForce Offering a Summer Job and Internship Fair April 16

Boys and Girls Club YouthForce is putting together a Teen Summit on Wednesday, April 16th from 12-3pm at their Rainier Vista Boys and Girl Club. The Teen Summit will have workforce readiness workshops, industry panels, and job exploration through VR (metaverse). This is also great opportunity for students looking for a summer job or internship to come speak with employers and community resources as they will be tabling throughout the event. They will have food and raffle giveaways.

The Rainier Beach Youth Stewards program is currently accepting applications for the 2025 summer and fall seasons! RBYS is a youth employment program of Tilth Alliance for youth, ages 14-18, to gain job experience through wetland restoration, farm education, and community engagement. 

Participants will work at the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands and support with field maintenance, food distribution, and wetland restoration. Youth will participate in workshops that explore food access, civic engagement, and responsible land stewardship while building relationships with peers, adult staff, and volunteers. See their seasonal schedule below.  

Summer June 24 – August 29.  15 hrs/week for 10 weeks  Every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 10:00am – 3:00pm 

Applications due May 18

Fall September 16 – November 22.  6 hrs/week for 10 weeks.  Every Wednesday: 3:15pm – 5:15pm and Saturday: 10:00am – 3:00pm

Qualifications: To be considered, applicants must be 14-18 years old and must submit a complete application.  Applicants are encouraged to apply for multiple seasons 

Pay: Youth will be paid $20.76/hr and will receive checks bi-weekly.

Pedalheads, a learn-to-ride bicycle day camp for ages 2-12, is currently hiring Camp Counselors to help run their 2025 spring break and summer programs. Their camp counselor positions are wonderful entry level jobs for youth to gain skills in relationship-building, teaching and leadership; and hours are also available as service-learning (you can do 40 hours of service-learning over Spring Break and then get paid throughout the Summer).

Miller Huller Architects Offering 4-week Summer Internship Opportunity

Since 1977, the Miller Hull Partnership has been dedicated to fostering an equitable and inclusive workplace. The architecture profession has barriers to entry that make it difficult for many to consider it a viable career path. Open Studio was created to introduce architecture to a wide range of high school students who may not have had the opportunity to explore architecture and design. The goal of the program is to offer an engaging learning experience that will leave a lasting impact for years to come.

Open Studio Internship
One full-time, paid internship is offered to a high school student who has completed their junior or senior year. For four weeks, this student may have an opportunity to tour construction sites, attend team meetings and work in a professional environment. Over the course of the summer, a portfolio of the intern’s work will be assembled and will culminate in a brief presentation on their last day. Transit expenses to get to our studio are covered. The application is attached and available on their website. 2025 Dates: 4 weeks beginning July 28th, 2025 and ending on August 22nd, 2025.

Finance Quest This program is for rising 11th graders interested in careers in finance, accounting, and management. During the 2 week program, students get guided mentorship from Amazon volunteers during their senior year. Snacks and swag provided by Amazon.  July 28- August 8, 9am-3pm (Monday through Friday)  $400 stipend (2 payments of $200)  Location: Amazon Campus (near Westlake Station) 
Science Quest – This is a biotech and biology deep dive at the Allen Institute’s cutting-edge lab. Students need to have completed a biology class in order to be considered for this program. Snacks provided by Allen Institute.   July 14-July 25, 9:30am-3:00pm (Monday through Friday)  $500 stipend paid upon completion of class  Location: Allen Quest (near Westlake light rail station) 
Tech Quest – Located on the Amazon campus, students explore computer science jobs, learn basic coding, etc. Snacks and swag provided by Amazon.This opportunity is primarily for current 9th and 10th grade students.  July 21-August 1, 10am-3pm (Monday through Friday)  $500 stipend paid upon completion of class  Location: Amazon Campus (near Westlake Station)

Seattle Public Schools’ Career and Technical Education (CTE) department maintains an Career Quest SPS Active directory of internships and other career-focused training programs that is updated throughout the year. The programs currently seeking students – and have open applications – are listed at the top. Students who are currently employed can earn high school credit (CTE or other elective credit) for completed working hours! Every 180 hours worked is equivalent to .5 high school elective credits plus an A to boost your GPA for college admissions.

Eligibility for students seeking elective credit for their paid work experience:

  • Student must be 16 years of age or older, be legally employed, and have taken a CTE course.
  • Complete Bi-Weekly check-in forms documenting your hours.
  • Complete a final evaluation form detailing how their specific work experience aligns with their educational goals, imparts work and financial understanding, and the ways this work experience impacts future career and educational opportunities.

UW STEMsub now accepting applications for next cohort beginning this Summer

The mission of UW STEMsub (Math Science Upward Bound) is to help low income and potential first-generation college students succeed in high school, get accepted to college and STEM majors, and graduate with a STEM degree.

Summer Academy includes: six weeks of STEM classes at UW taught by professors (one semester of high school credit per class), research opportunities, field trips, and a lunch stipend.

Academic Year support includes: weekly academic advising and tutoring, Saturday college/career prep workshops, graduation assistance, SAT/ACT prep, help with college application essays, service learning hours, and a paid stipend for your full participation.

Eligibility:

  • 10th or 11th grader
  • Motivated to go to college and are interested in pursuing a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math (STEM) or the Medical/Health Care field;
  • Are the first generation in your family to earn a 4-year college degree and/or come from a low-income family. Most students who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch are eligible

UW College of Engineering and Office of Inclusive Excellence are organizing an event for Underrepresented High School Students to explore STEM opportunities and learn what it’s like to be a student at the UW. The event will take place on the UW campus on Saturday, April 26, 2025 from 10AM to 4PM.

It’s a free event where breakfast and lunch will be served, and students participate in hands-on workshops, visit labs, get admissions advice, tour the campus, and hear from STEM professionals like themselves and much more.

Scholarships Available for Filipino Graduating Seniors

Filipino American Educators of Washington (FAEW) is proud to continue their longstanding tradition of awarding scholarships to graduating high school seniors of Filipino heritage, who are going on to pursue higher education.

Franklin Alumni Association Scholarships Now Open

Applications for scholarships ONLY available to graduating Franklin seniors are once again open for the 24-25 school year. Ranging between $2,000 and $5,000, these opportunities are your best chance to get extra money for your college or vocational training programs. Because they only go to Franklin students, your odds of getting this money is MUCH higher than most other scholarship opportunities listed in the Scholarship Bulletin.

Scholarships available for Professional/Technical (Trades) Programs

Students interested in pursuing professional/technical college or trade school programs not currently offered at one of the three Seattle Colleges (ex. pharmacy tech, phlebotomy, biotech, radiology/ultrasound tech, cosmetology, auto mechanic, machining, criminal justice/forensic science, hospitality management) often need to find alternative ways of paying for school besides Seattle Promise. Because these programs are not offered through Seattle Colleges, Seattle Promise cannot be used to pay for tuition.

However, there are four scholarships that students can apply for to fund their program at another college in the area. Check Professional/Technical Trades Programs and begin applying!

Training and Mentorship Programs

Summer Accounting Career Awareness Program Now Accepting Applications

The Accounting Career Awareness Program is pleased to invite applicants from WA state high school students of color to its Summer 2025 Residency Week program at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. Their mission is to help underrepresented students realize academic and career opportunities in accounting and business.

This free, week-long residential program for rising WA state high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors introduces participants to accounting and the many opportunities offered in a career field actively seeking to diversify its workforce. Participants reside on campus, learn in and out of the classroom, visit accounting firms, build valuable life skills, and network with other students and diverse professionals while enjoying a taste of campus life.

This program is 100% free and includes housing in campus dorms, food, and all activities. 

Applications for the July 20-25 2024 Residency Week program are being accepted now. Priority deadline is April 4, 2025.

Free WA Transportation Summer Camp for Students

Applications are now open for the 2025 WA Transportation Summer Camp. This one-week residential camp offers a unique chance for students to explore the potential for a future career in transportation—whether it’s in engineering, planning, or beyond, all while immersing themselves in the college campus experience.

Here’s what students can look forward to:

Open Studio Summer Intensive
A free, week-long educational opportunity at our Seattle studio, open to 24 students between 9th and 12th grade who want to take a deeper dive into the design process. For three hours each day, they will learn how to sketch and draw, think through a design problem with a teammate and present their work to a group, while receiving individualized feedback and counseling. One of the three-hour sessions will be used to take a field trip to enhance the participants’ understanding of the project.  The application is attached and available on their website.  2025 Session: August 1 – 8, 2025 from 2 – 5 p.m.

The Young Executives of Color (YEOC) program, hosted by the Michael G. Foster School of Business and Ernst & Young (EY) since 2006, is a Free nine-month college pipeline program for rising junior and senior high school students. Students attend one UW Young Executives of Color Saturday session every month from September to May at Foster School of Business on the University of Washington’s Seattle campus. 

Students will have the opportunity and benefits of:

  • Learning about business functions (e.g. Information Systems, Marketing, Finance, etc.)
  • Get college prepared through workshops and connecting with UW and Foster admissions
  • Professional development opportunities
  • Networking with business leaders, faculty, and staff
  • Receive mentorship from undergraduate students affiliated with the Foster School

Mentee applications for UW Allen School Summer 2025 Changemakers in Computing are open! The deadline to apply is April 3rd, 11:59PM PT. Changemakers in Computing (CiC) is a free summer program hosted by the University of Washington’s Allen School. CiC aims to increase the participation of underrepresented, economically disadvantaged, and/or future first-generation college students in computer science and engineering.

The program is open to all rising juniors and seniors at Washington state high schools. Students will be organized into Mentee groups led by Mentors who are current UW undergraduate students. Mentees will develop coding skills through culturally relevant project-based learning, learning about different areas of computing, explore the changemaking impact one can have through technology, receive support in pursuing continued learning, and build community with other changemakers

Important details:

  • April 3rd, 11:59PM – Applications closes
  • May 1st – Decisions are sent
  • July 7th through August 1st – Program dates (Monday – Thursday, 9am-3pm)

Seattle Children's Hospital | Research | Foundation

Seattle Children’s Hospital employs thousands of healthcare professionals who deliver hope, care and cures to help every child live the healthiest and most fulfilling life possible. Each summer, they produce two camps to help prepare the next generation for Seattle Children’s important work.

Nurse Camp – During this free, five-day camp, students will gain insight into the world of pediatric nursing by participating in clinical observation sessions. In these sessions, students will shadow nurses in a clinical environment and observe as they provide patient care and interact with patients and families. July 14-18, 2025. All SPS students are eligible to register for and earn credit from the half-day Skills Center courses while attending their current high school. Skills Center classes provide rigorous, hands-on learning opportunities for students interested in building skills in careers like healthcare, firefighting, education, maritime, and many more while students are still in high school.

Students interests in careers in health and community development careers, are encouraged to participate in the King County Public Health Camp this summer. The camp features field trips, career path explorations, and hands-on learning opportunities from public health professionals, including nurses, research scientists, health educators and more.

The Girls Who Code  2025 Summer Programs Application is open!

GHC Summer Programs help high school girls and nonbinary students build coding skills, explore career pathways in tech, and connect with a supportive community–no program fees or prior coding experience required!

Students can choose their own adventure with two exciting program options:

Summer Immersion Program (SIP): Spend two weeks designing computer games in live virtual classrooms while making friends, getting practical college and career advice from industry leaders, and exploring a future career in tech. Eligible students can apply for a $300 SIP Student Grant plus laptop and hotspot access!

The Seattle Police Law Enforcement Exploring program aims to bridge the gap between youth and police by educating and involving them in police operations and to interest them in Law Enforcement.

Youth Transportation Summit Offers 7 Service Hours

Want to help shape the future of your community? The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) is hosting the Future of Motion Youth Transportation Summit on Saturday, April 26, from 9am-4pm at the Vera Project (305 Harrison St., Seattle). This event qualifies for 7 service learning hours.

This event is for young leaders, advocates, and activists who want to learn about key SDOT projects and how transit agencies work with the community to make them happen. You’ll also get a chance to share your ideas and input on SDOT projects focused on building community, creating green spaces, and achieving climate justice goals.

Who Should Come?

  • Ages 12-19: If you care about making our streets, sidewalks, and public spaces better for YOU and future generations.

Skate Like A Girl Summer Program Offering 50+ Volunteer Hours

Skate Like A Girl’s Y.E.S. Program gives teens the opportunity to gain professional skills through skateboarding and make a positive impact in their community, all while earning service hours throughout the summer.

Applications for the 2025 Youth Employment Skateboarding cohort are now open! Applications due March 30th, 2025.*

Youth Employment Skateboarding Program YES

Students of all genders age 13-18 are invited to participate. Program commitment involves attending orientation, workshops, and trainings, as well as contributing at least 40 hours of volunteer service to support Skate Like a Girl activities during the Summer. Participants can expect to log a minimum of 50 hours total, including 40 hours in person at programs and events, along with about 10 hours dedicated to trainings, workshops, and other activities.

University of Washington Botanic Gardens

UW Botanic Gardens Junior Naturalist applications are now open for the summer program. Junior Naturalists are teens volunteering with the Arboretum Summer Camp for a two-week session. The program is looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about working with kids, playing outside, and gaining leadership skills. Students can earn up to 75 service hours, and will receive a letter of recommendation upon successful completion of the program.

Qualified Students are:

  • Able to commit to a full, 2-week session
  • Willing to be outside all day

Applications for UW Botanic Gardens are accepted on a rolling basis, and the application will close when space is filled (usually late Spring). Please contact us at uwbgeduc@uw.edu if you have any questions.

Washington Bus Education Fund – the largest youth-led organization dedicated to empowering BIPOC and working-class young Washingtonians – offers year-round internships and organizing opportunities to produce the next generation of civic and political leaders in our state.

Bus Underground marks the next evolution of their high school programming. It combines elements of their previous Vote Leads program and Political Education series into a dynamic, open organizing space for young people. This new initiative provides a collaborative environment where youth can explore their passions, build skills, and create change in their communities, all while earning service hours towards their high school graduation. Meals included!

Be a Dance Buddy to a neurodiverse or disabled student in an adaptive movement camp. Volunteers will dance, move, ad play with students facilitated by a teacher. They will provide unique support to students to make sure that everyone is safe and engaged

Volunteer opportunities are available throughout the week. Typical shifts are:

  • Saturdays, 12:45-2:15PM and 2-3:30PM
  • Sundays, 2:45-4:15PM / 3:45PM-5:15PM / 4-5:30PM
  • Wednesdays, 4:15-5:45PM

Pedalheads, a learn-to-ride bicycle day camp for ages 2-12, is currently seeking volunteer Camp Counselors to help run their 2025 spring break program. Their camp counselor volunteer positions are wonderful opportunities to gain skills in relationship-building, teaching and leadership while earning time toward your 60-hour graduation requirement.

School Connect WA provides after school literacy and math tutoring/programming for BIPOC and McKinney Vento children in Seattle Public Schools. Locally, they partner with the Deaborn Park International School in Beacon Hill to provide reading and math tutoring to 1st-5th graders. This opportunity would be an easy commute for any Franklin students who are interested in volunteering.
