Part-Time Jobs
Check out our custom Indeed.com search query to find local companies hiring teens this summer

To help you filter out the 100s of jobs on Indeed that do not hire teens, we have created a search query that limits part-time jobs open within a 5 mile distance from Franklin High School Get a filtered list and start applying now.
When you find a job on Indeed you like, you will need to create an Indeed account and then build an Indeed profile (including submitting a resume) before you can apply for jobs. After you build this profile, you only need to select the Apply button on a job listing, and it will instantly send your profile and resume to the employer for a very easy application process.
Apply Now to be a Team Read Tutor in the Fall
Team Read’s 2026–27 school year Reading Coach application is now open! Team Read Coaches are Seattle area teens who are trained to tutor elementary students in reading after school. A group of coaches go to nearby elementary schools to work one-on-one with 2nd & 3rd graders to help them become better readers and develop confidence in their skills. The pay rate is $21.30/hr.
20+ students from Franklin were employed with Team Read this year and made a real difference for elementary readers across South Seattle.
The Commitment:
- Two days a week from approximately ~4:15-5:45 p.m.
- Training occurs in the month of October
- Work with a group of peer coaches in-person at a nearby SPS elementary school or community site

Rainier Beach Youth Stewards Hiring Urban Farmers for Fall
The Rainier Beach Youth Stewards program is currently accepting applications for the 2026 Fall season. RBYS is a youth employment program of Tilth Alliance for youth, ages 14-18, to gain job experience through wetland restoration, farm education, and community engagement.
Participants will work at the Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands and support with field maintenance, food distribution, and wetland restoration. Youth will participate in workshops that explore food access, civic engagement, and responsible land stewardship while building relationships with peers, adult staff, and volunteers. See their seasonal schedule below.
Schedule — September 16–November 21. Every Wednesday, 3:15- 5:15 p.m. and every Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Total of 10 weeks. Hours are subject to change but will not exceed 7 hours per week. Hours will transition to only Saturdays after Daylight Saving Time.
Location — Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands (5513 S Cloverdale St, Seattle 98118).
Pay — Youth will receive a bi-weekly stipend of $280 based on your verified participation in the program.

College Preparation
College Possible Still Recruiting for the 2026-27 School Year
Does your student want to go to college? Do you wish they could have a college coach to increase their chances of completing their degree? College Possible can give them that!
College Possible is accepting applications from current sophomores! All students applying now would start to receive direct support starting in the fall.
College Possible provides 1:1 college coaching to students from lower-income backgrounds beginning junior year of high school through college graduation, regardless of which college a student chooses. In order to be a part of this program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum GPA of 2.0
- Qualifies for College Bound, qualifies for free and reduced lunch or meets minimum Pell eligibility
- Committed to pursuing a college degree

To be considered for the College Possible Program, students can Apply for College Possible. After they apply, parents/guardians will be emailed a family form to complete. We process applications as they come in so encourage your student to apply as soon as possible to guarantee a spot in our program.
Free College Advising for Low Income Students with Matriculate; great opportunity if you missed Upward Bound enrollment.
Become a High School Fellow with Matriculate, free college advising for low income, high potential students. Franklin students are encouraged to apply!
The college and financial aid process can be complicated! As a High School Fellow, you’ll have an Advising Fellow, someone from a similar background as you, walk you through every step of the process, 1:1, virtually, and for free. This includes creating a balanced college list, filling out applications, applying to financial aid and scholarships, preparing for college life, and more. All while cheering you on!
Matriculate also sends you “cheat sheet” guides, text reminders, a questions hotline, monthly newsletters, and you can access a Discord community.
The Matriculate Class of 2027 Application is now open! Apply today to get free 1:1 advising support. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the class is filled. Spots can fill up fast, so apply now!

Worksite Learning (HS credit for work)

Students who are employed this summer can earn high school credit (CTE or other elective credit) for completed working hours! Every 180 hours worked is equivalent to .5 high school elective credits plus an A to boost your GPA for college admissions.
Please reach out to Mr. Ruiz for more information by emailing dpruiz@seattleschools.org before July 31. Or stop by Room 218 (the new 26-27 location of the Career Center) when we return in the Fall.
Eligibility for students seeking elective credit for their paid work experience:
Complete a final evaluation form detailing how their specific work experience aligns with their educational goals, imparts work and financial understanding, and the ways this work experience impacts future career and educational opportunities. to start looking through the Franklin Scholarship Bulletin to get a head start on applying.
Student must be 16 years of age or older, be legally employed, and have taken a CTE course.

Service-Learning Opportunities
Outdoors for All seeking summer volunteers
Outdoors for All provides outdoor recreation experiences for youth and adults with disabilities, and their Summer Youth Camps (June–August) are a particularly great opportunity for high school students seeking meaningful service hours, leadership experience, and hands‑on community involvement.
Youth Camp Volunteer Highlights:
- Support campers ages 7–17 with disabilities
- Assist with outdoor activities such as community outings, cycling, kayaking, hiking, swimming, rock climbing
- Camps run Monday–Friday, June 22–August 28
- Locations include Magnuson Park (Seattle), Lake Sammamish State Park (Issaquah), and PenMet Park (Gig Harbor)
Students age 16–17 are encouraged to apply and may volunteer once approved through the online application and required phone screening.

Become a Volunteer Tutor with 425 Tutoring for Service Hours
If you are looking to build your resume with a volunteer job entry while also earning most or all of your service learning hours, you should consider volunteering with 425 Tutoring for students grades K-6 in all subjects (Math, English, etc.)!
Must be a current high school student to participate. (Must be at least 14 years old)
- Develop individual lesson plans and activities using Google Slides, PowerPoint, etc.
- Virtually tutor using Google Meets, Zoom, etc. (All Virtual)
- Work with 2+ students per tutoring session
- 2-4 service hours per week (1- 2 hours of direct tutoring, 1-2 preparation)
- Must commit to 8 weeks of tutoring!
- Flexible times! Works with your schedule
Qualifications:
- Must use emailing services
- US High School Student OR 8th grade student, fluent in English, good with kids, access to internet
